Thread: Best italian fragrance for men |
Domenico Caraceni 1913. Period.
all Krizia frags for men. they're all AMAZING!
All of these have already been mentioned, but they are that good - Ungaro 2 and 3, Grigio Perla, pretty much any of the ADPs, Gianfranco Ferre For Men, Very Valentino (refreshing to see that mentioned here - I thought I was the only one that liked it!) and loads of the SMNs, even if I don't think they're worth the money.
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme. I'm wearing it today and it hardly ever disappoints.
Let's hear it for Zegna! Gotta love the Z.
Xeroff Homme... Kobe and Uden.
a few of my favorites would be Numero Uno by Carthusia, Arso & Patchouly by Profumum and 1920 Extreme and Real Patchouly by Bois 1920. For vintage I like the original Versace... L'homme and Romeo Gigli's original men's fragrance....
I heard Domenico Caraceni 1913 was good.
I haven't tried a lot of them but from what I tried, Colonia, and Colonia Assoluta are great fragrances and Mandorlo de Sicilia is meh. The Acqua di Parma line is the way to go.
My current top twenty five

Brioni Eau De Parfum. It's like the citrusy-green Eau Fraiche version of Creed's Scent Of Oger. Wonderfully traditional and tasteful Italian scent.
Next comes Lorenzo Villoresi's Incensi. A magical soapy Frankincense scent like nothing else. His Acqua Di Colonia is outstanding as well.
After that, I think Sisley's Eau Di Campagne is the next greatest Italian scent. Literally the scent of the Italian countryside during spring and early summer.
Acqua Di Parma Colonia is another I like alot.

My favorite would be Acqua di Parma Colonia.
I am also quite fond of Mazzolari Lui, which is totally different.
Of the half a dozen or so Italian fragrances that I own, I would say that Capucci pour Homme is my personal favorite. One of my Basenotes' buddies turned me on to Mazzolari Lui a couple of years ago, and while it doesn't have the same "Mediterranean" feel that Capucci pour Homme has, it is one of the finest scents I have ever smelled.
Well, best would imply I have tried them all... which I certainly haven't. My favorite of the many I have tried is Lalfeorosa by O'driu.
Current Top Favorites:
1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
4) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz) - tie
4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie
6) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
9) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie
9) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy) - tie
9) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
9) Polo vintage (Ralph Lauren) - tie
9) Patou pour Homme Privé (Jean Patou) - tie
9) Oud Shamash (The Different Company) - tie
Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza
Versace Dreamer
It would have to be something from Santa Maria Novella. Which one I don't know, my favourite changes every time I squeeze into the little boutique they have on Piccadilly in London:
Classica
Patchouli
Marescialla
Ginestra
Acqua di Cuba
Caprifoglio
Lorenzo Villoresi Uomo
Lorenzo Villoresi Acqua di Colonia
Nobile 1942 Ambra Nobile
Carthusia Uomo
I still need to sample Eau d'Italie, Acqua di Parma, Domenico Caraceni and most of Eau d'Italie's lines.
I like Acqua di Parma Colonia and Assoluta a lot. LV Uomo is another winner. Profumum Antico Caruso is my comfort scent go-to. Barbershop vibe like Rive Gauche PH, but with an Italian slant on it.
Gucci Nobile, sadly discontinued and very hard to find any longer.

Hi all,
Awesome thread OP. Wow, this is too difficult. A lot of popular choices in this thread I have NOT tried so, I can't comment on which is THE best. I have owned (and enjoyed) both Trussardi Uomo and Ungaro lll. While I would call these fragrances very good.....compared to the Lorenzo Villoresi's and/or the SMN's I've owned, dear God, it's no contest! Also, the "sample" of
"I Profumi di Firenze" Fresco di Vetiver and Mazzolari (I believe it was Lui) as well as ETRO MdM were just out of this World! I don't WANT to be a "Niche" snob but, what can I say ? My experience has been the (so called) Niche fragrances (Italian, French or otherwise) are the fragrances that have ROCKED my World the most. The Eye may lie, the Lip may slip, but, the Nose knows! All the fragrances I've mentioned are on my "to buy" list. However, it's going to take some time as none of the aforementioned Houses are what I would call IN-expensive.
Regards,
SixCats!
One fragrance that gets forgotten here is Trussardi L'uomo. Different to uomo and is a rich amber and tomato leaf fragrance that is incredibly strong and goes on forever. I would say this is the strongest masculine I've ever come across. There has never been anything quite like it IMO. Not easy to wear though.
La vita è breve, la morte vien.
Wanted!!! Rectoverso Tea Tobacco by Ulric de Varens. PM Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I should have mentioned Gianfranco Ferre for Men as well.

Without a doubt, Acqua di Parma Colonia - or anything from the range!
Acqua Di Parma Essenza
Mandorlo Di Sicilia
Bvlgari Soir
Bvlgari Extreme
Grigio Perla (the original)
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (vintage I guess since it's made in Italy and by D&G)
Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta
Another vote for Acqua di Parma Colonia and Assoluta.
And another vote for Villoresi Colonia and Paestum Rose.
I'd add the wonderful K di Krizia for women, Carthusia Mediterraneo.
And Acqua di Gio', for crying out loud
