Cool Guys, how do you accessorize yourself?

Since I don't know anything about fashion , I'd like to hear what some of you guys use to accessorize yourself.

Currently the only 'accessory' I wear daily or when I go out, is my Seiko Watch, and that's it. No necklaces, bracelets, rings. But I kinda feel the urge to maybe look for some stuff I like.

I'm not much for piercings, Keltic runes or Armstrong-bracelets, but if *you* do, please show or tell!!

Default Re: Guys, how do you accessorize yourself?

My approach is pretty basic and, maybe partly out of respect for a recommendation made by both Giorgio Armani and Werner Baldessarini of Boss at different points and independently from each other, partly because I can relate much better to a more conservative style, I TOTALLY avoid having and/or wearing ANY tattoos, piercings and male jewelry and only wear a watch, as the only "permitted" form of male adornment. However, I do tend to "color-code" my watch a bit, since about 90% of my watches have leather straps, I like it, when the belt, the shoes, the leather gloves and the briefcase (sometimes even the wallet) I have on me that day, to have the same color of the leather, as the leather of my watch strap has- but without being obsessively preoccupied by these matching colors.
However, I tend to handle more liberally the colors of others accessories, as ties, scarves, ascots, caps, hats, bow-ties, sunglasses etc.; sometimes even choosing them in colors, which are completely contrasting and/or completely anachronistic towards the rest of the outfit (irrespective if this outfit will be casual or formal). This a more color-related approach of accessorizing and is far from giving a complete outlook on my fashion choices, since I still cannot fully define (or not even irrevocably decide) on the main fashion labels, fabrics, patterns, clothing articles of my wardrobe.
Oh, and I love "accessorizing" my frags with my clothing too- but this may be another story. I do this quite liberally and randomly too, sometimes the more aquatic, light, informal ones with casual clothes and the more formal, heavy, classic ones with the more formal suits, sometimes completely opposite to this pattern. I am pretty much unbiased if a frag is suitable exclusively for strictly casual/strictly romantic/strictly workplace/strictly formal occasions (since these limitations tend to be more fluid in the perfume industry, why not benefit from it in terms of fashion and style too?)...

I just wear a watch. I don't like clutter, so I tend to avoid jewellery. Not saying I never will wear any, though!

I wear scarves and ties a lot. A light scarf in the warmer months is an easy way of matching or throwing some color into your fit. Ties as well. I tend to wear them with polo shirts and dress shirts alike. As for jewelry, I have 1 gold bracelet (about a 1/4 inch wide) and a black leather strap watch.

The key for accessorizing is to take it easy, especially for men. Dont go overboard with jewelry, it looks tacky when you do. Start off with one quality piece then add to it. Make your accessories personal.

What kind of scarfs are you referring to? Those light, almost see-through scarfs? Do you have some pictures / examples of what you like?

I'm pretty dull...I wear a baseball cap (adidas) & a watch (tissot). I only wear a belt if my pants are too big...sunglasses only when it's really bright out (linda farrow).

I did buy a purse recently though...I'd call it a tote or something, but it's pretty much a purse. By a company called Want Les Essentielles...or something like that. I only use it when I go shopping...plastic bags have nearly been outlawed here in Toronto.

I wear a silver rope chain bracelet, but that's about the extent of it.

A watch, a few hats (flat caps, derbys, etc), ties on dressy occassions, my glasses could count as an accessory, I suppose. These are the main ways I accessorize.

Some kind of hat, a watch, usually sunglasses, and a belt. I have multiples of these items so it's usually a different combination each day.

My must-have accessories for winter are:

    SCARF
    GLOVES
    SUNGLASSES
    WATCH

    SCARVES
I have a good wool houndstooth-print scarf to be worn with coats/blazers, and a more casual black/grey cotton scarf which I wear with jeans and lightweight casual jackets. You can see it peeking out in this photo here. Here is what it looks like close up.

    GLOVES
Gloves are also a must in winter. I dislike bulky gloves made of polyester or knit, so I have just bought some quality leather quilted mens gloves, similar to these. I paid a little more than I might have liked to, but expect I will have these for a good period of time.

    SUNGLASSES
I alternate between two styles - one, a casual wrap-around style similar to these, and the other a slightly more formal style like these.

    WATCH
In terms of jewellery, depending on the occasion, I wear a watch.
Here is my casual watch (though mine is all-black), and as a formal watch I wear a vintage gold Omega Seamaster watch from the 60s (a gift from my grandfather).

First and most importantly, look for a nice QUALITY belt.

Shoes are also terribly important. Check out www.leffot.com

You may not be able to afford all the shoes there, but it is a good base for style and what not to wear.

Jewelry? A good watch and a wedding ring or signet. That's it.

When dressed up, I wear two rings, a nice watch. Fedoras or Homburgs at times.

Something like a Mad Man version of Biggie Smalls I suppose.

When casual I wear a dog tag necklace on occasion.

I'm sure it's all a bit much for some people.

I used to wear a ring (gold with onyx or obsidian, always get them confused) given to me for my high school graduation by my grandparents, but I need it resized. Currently looking for a scarf for the winter months. Right now, I just wear glasses.

I have never really gotten into the whole watch thing. They seem pointless when I can just check the time on my cell phone which is always in my pocket. If I found one for under $100 that I really liked I would probably wear it, though.

I too like my leathers to match: shoes, belt, wallet, and watch strap. My only accessories are my watch, my wedding ring, and my scent of the day!

My husband only wears his work watch, and a gold chain holding his wedding ring and a small gold pendant I gave him as an anniversary gift--and this gets tucked under his crew-necked undershirt so it is never seen. (His work demands that keep his hands free of jewellery.)

I would love to wear watches, but I really tend to perspire A LOT, yes even the arms, wrist area, and it gets uncomfortable for me. I used to wear a black jade ring, but that broke when a friend dropped it.

The only thing I wear now is a thin white gold pendant around the neck my mum bought me many years go. Nothing too fancy...

Hubby is "tha king" of NOT accessorizing... He doesn't even wear a watch, although he has a beautiful Gucci I got him for our engagement. He doesn't like jewelry either, but he always wears his wedding ring (platinum, same as mine... But mine has a diamond... Ha, ha, ha! ). He has several pairs of shoes, but all in the same style and in "safe" colors, a pair of black gloves I got him and a couple of scarves (one in different shades of blue and the other one in different shades of burgundy... I also got those...). He carries a messenger bad (black Kipling one... which was previously mine) where he carries all his stuff plus a 11" VAIO laptop.

    Here goes:

On a typical day I wear my Citizen watch, a ring and Prada shades (if it's spring, summer or fall as I don't usually wear sunglasses in the winter). Some days I wear my Versace eyeglasses.

Weekends I'll usually add my Versace belt and wear one of my bracelets, either gold accent or enamel/diamond bracelet. Shoes are Nike Zoom Hustle (black patent leather), Nike basketball shoes or Jordans. These can be worn with dress pants too.

Hats are almost always Kangol tropic style caps or Reds & Nike baseball caps.

    nothing but the functional stuff.
I haven't worn a tie since high school, not even for my wedding.
I have several gift watches that I don't wear.

I wear glasses, but I have a single pretty basic one.

    I like my clothes though.

Yes. Most of the major department stores and clothing designers place hats in the "accessories" category.

Just a nice watch and when necessary, I wear sunglasses. No rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings....

I believe in having great belts and shoes with an appropriate watch.
