Default what is THAT similar note in GIT and Cool Water

There is one kind of sharp smoky note that they both share that really defines the Cool Water/GIT smell but I can't find out what it is. It doesn't seem to be any that they share in their note pyramids.

Is it the sandalwood? Musk/Ambergris combo?

Please somebody knows what I'm talking about!

Asked myself about this and thought that it might be:

    Juniper?
    Calone?

Yes, I agree with sofresh, it's an aromachemical called dihydromercenol.
