Thread: Dune by Dior; reformulated ?
I recently purchased a 30 ml EdT of Dune, and when I compare it to my old purse spray, I notice that they're different. The purse spray seems better/more intens and rich. At first, I thougt the purse spray must be "off" and my scent buds out of order, but then a commenter on my blog mentioned that her old purse spray is stronger and better than her new bottle.
I have searched the net, but can't find info on this. Do any of you people know if Dune is reformulated ?

It has been, yes.
Do you know when this unfortunate thing occured?
Probably when LVMH bought Dior.
Forgive me for being so ignorant, and thank you for answering me, but I do not know who/what LVMH is, and I would particulary like to know the year this happened, since I'm watching a subject in Ebay and have inquired how old the bottle is
LVMH is a big luxury brand conglomerate. The acquired Dior in 1990, so actually before Dune was released. The cheapening of various fragrances didn't really start happening until later in the 90's, early 2000's. It's impossible to tell frankly, but the safest thing to do, since the fragrance isn't all that old, is to get as early of an example as possible.
Keep in mind too that some fragrances change over time, so the conditions in which you stored your purse spray may differ from how another bottle was stored. Generally purse sprays are good at keeping fragrances in-tact because they often don't let any light in, but inevitably change will occur.
My advice to you - look specifically for another purse spray. I don't know how long that format was sold, but it might get your closer to the version you've become accustom to.
Ah, that was a great idea! Thank you
"More than five years" as the seller said, seems at little too uncertain then.
It has been, around 2001. You are looking for an authentic one, right? It HAS to be where the box is black on the bottom and the color itself is intense orange, not peachy pink orange.
Thanks, Twolf, and pardon my veryvery late reply! This is new info again, the box part, I mean. I have aquired two "old" bottles, but without boxes, and I do think the juice i quite light, so I'm not at all certain. Decided to let it rest for a while, - maybe I'll "fall over" the perfect one, one day? :-)
Is the only formulation Edt?
Dans La Nuit Vers Le Jour Sans Adieu Je Reviens Vers Toi.
I have also heard of the reformulation. And info regarding that is extremely hard to find! I DO notice a difference in the new formula and am distressed by it. I feel betrayed by Christian Dior that they allowed reformuations to happen when it was sold. I have loved Dune since it came out and purchased my first bottle of it in 1993. It was horribly expensive for me and when I was able I purchased many 100ml bottles of it. They are all gone now and I have been forced to acquire new bottles..........
doesn't LV stand for Luis Vuitton? they make Dune? or they just own the rights to Dior's production of it? I'm sorry to hear it has been reformulated. I assume then it doesn't smell exactly the same. my sister used to wear that one and it was nice.
