Default Vintage Mitsouko Hecho en Mexico...What!!??

Ok, so my 45ml bottle of vintage Mitsouko EDC that I spent too much money on ebay purchasing came in the mail today. I was a bit shocked to see the words "Hecho en Mexico" on both the box and bottle. I had to look at my box from my reformulated EDP and of course it says "Made in France". I know the vintage isn't a fake (it definately smells right), so how long did Guerlain produce Mexican made French fragrances?

I did a search and came up with Guerlain de Mexico SA ( what does that mean ? ) and an address ...
    International Private company
Av Ejercito Nacional No. 216, Pisos 17, Col Anzures, Mexico DF, 11590, Mexico
    ()52 55 2581 1200, 52 55 2581 1310 fax, http://www.lvmh.com

The website is for Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy so it must be genuine ? I assume they make Guerlain in Mexico now ( .....along with Maytag washing machines/dryers these days ?!?? )
Mr. Guerlain will probably know more.........

Well, I only know that during the 50s-70s, Guerlain's fragrances sold in Mexico was marked like that. They were produced under license in Mexico. Nothing wrong with that, it's totally perfect juice! Many vintage Guerlains found on US eBay have the "Made in Mexico" stamp. I myself have a "Hecho en Mexico" Mitsouko EdC.

I'm not sure if this is what you were asking- but SA is an abbreviation signifying a corporation.

Gee, some folks in California go to Mex for cheap RX drugs, birth control pills, dental work and even plastic surgery..now we can add perfumes....

I guess so ! However, at risk of sounding biased and snobby - I much rather my Guerlain said 'Made In France" !

I am relieve to read this. I recently saw an auction in e-bay for a cologne bottled in Mexico and I was about to press the buy button, but then I saw the tags and had misgivings about it.

Next time I will rememeber this thread.

I'm surprised and shocked at this comment to say the least.

I have no problem with any perfume that says "Made in Mexico" or any other latin country for that matter.

I have no problem with items made in Latin America. I just did not know that Guerlain had been bottled in Mexico in the past. I am weary of anyfragrance that may be counterfit, regardless of country, especially when dealing with a $300+ purchase on ebay. Having lived in Mexico City as a child and teenager, I have absolutely no problem with legal products manufactured in that country.

I have bottles of Mitsouko, Shalimar, and Habit Rouge EdC, in the zigzag boxes that are "Hecho en Mexico". The bottles say "Made in France" for the ones I have. They are all fantastic.

I think the undiluted perfume oil came from France, and they just blended and bottled it there. I believe Guerlain, Chanel, and others did the same in the US at some point. I always assumed it was for tax reasons or to reduce shipping/bottling costs.

If my memory serves me correctly, I recall reading once that Guerlain Vetiver was originally conceived of with the Latin American market in mind.

That is what I understand, as well.
