Default The Ultimate Men's Niche Fragrance?

I know that there have been similar threads before, but I'm curious to know what men's niche fragrance you would put above all others that you have ever tried. Call it a holy grail or desert island scent, but I want to know what is THE ultimate niche fragrance to you, regardless of cost or availability. In fact, I'd prefer to hear about the more unknown and/or rare scents that not everybody talks about.

    Looking forward to your responses.

In a pinch, I would say Amouage Gold.

These three are the best for ME, but everyone has their own favorites...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    Montale - Red Vetyver
    CDG - Artek/Standard
    Invasion Barbare - MDCI

If pushed for one...Red Vetyver. It just pushes all my buttons every time I wear it.

For me, it was "Vintage" Tabarome by Creed and Kölnisch Juchten by Parfums Regence.

If you consider those too common, seek out Kölnisch Juchten (Russian leather) and Kölnisch Wasser (the original eau de cologne). Both fragrances are by Johann Maria Farina gegenuber dem Julichs-Platz.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost

I know it's a bad thing to declare love so quickly, but I'm truly in awe of how amazing Josef Statkus EDP is. I've never seen patchouli, incense, or vanilla presented this way, and I truly love it. If forced to mention a couple more I'd probably say Chergui and another new love Bois d'Armenie are up there along with Angeliques sous la Pluie.

The first time I ever wore Vintage Tabarome I was in awe and intimidated by the austere beauty it has.
Good one for sure. I was stupid to sell my bottle. You hear that petruccijc?

I have mentioned only those scents which makes me feel opulent and keeps me engaged all the way till end. very hard ot choose one...but if forced to, it'd be Amouage Jubilation XXV with Montale Black Oudh coming in second.

I enjoyed the opening of the new Tabarome best, in terms of niche I've sampled, but because it didn't last long enough (nor develop into anything that I really liked) I swapped it off.

    Second the Jubilation.
Also to me any Tauer reeks of creativity and the kind of attitude i ascribe artists with.
Doing what he considers to be good, using ingredient that best fulfill his request, well, to me thats niche.

    Go,TwoRoads!

Some find Vintage Tabarome "musty." Good! Please don't wait for the top notes to recede--There'll be more or the rest of us

I'll add the next to impossible to find:

L'Occitane Neroli EDP ( NOT the new stuff)
    Patou Pour Homme (of course)

And the magnificent and readily available:

    Blenheim Bouquet--- Penhaligon's
    Cuba--- Czech and Speake
    Cuir d'Oranger----Miller Harris
    Iskander---Parfum d'Empire

It's a bit sad that these last four are far easier to find than the "ancient" Nicole Miller for Men or Givenchy Gentleman, both designer frags which have been re-formulated into a fleeting and humdrum copy of the originals.

Rare and unknown regardless of cost or availability? Why make it difficult for yourself? Ok,

Prince Bandzile Diamini (Arabian Oud) - it is way above any other niche I've tried.

Right now there's one bottle available in one shop only .. good luck.

Favorite niche sampled: Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain. It's a lot like several other frags but with best notes combined and a wonderful unfolding movement--breathtaking and transporting.

Arabie and Chergui are definite contenders as are Bois 1920 Extreme, Mazzolari Lui, and Voleur de Roses.

Tell me about Jen. I have the biggest dilemma this Christmas, I want them both desperately, along with Bois d'Iris and Fille en Aguilles.

Just tried Blue Amber and Around Midnight at ScentBar on a quick trip to LA this weekend. Liked the Blue Amber, LOVED Around Midnight, but maybe that's because I'm a total Buxton groupie.

    I would add:
The Different Company - Sel de Vetiver
    Penhaligon's - Opus 1870
Etat Libre d'Orange - Fat Electrician

Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain. It's focused on a single, strong, natural-feeling ingredient and it has a joyous, slightly brutal sort of lover's naivete that makes it immediately recognizable as the work of a brilliant amateur. I love the stuff.
