    Default Best Fragrance Names

Which house do you think has the best names for the frags in their lineup?

I think I vote Amouage - Epic, Jubilation, Reflection, Lyric, etc.

I would do a poll here, but there are just too many options!!

    What do you think?

Guerlain - too many to mention.
Caron also has some very evocative titles.
Amouage approach is also great - there is a theme going on there for sure.

    Coup de Fouet!

I like the word Insense, by Givenchy! Although not a fan of Rance, I like the name "Le Vainqueur."

And the perfume house name Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier...just *hearing* a man say this gives me chair de poule (goose bumps)! And the scent names and inspirations are wonderful: Jardin du Nil, Parfum d'Habit, Iris Bleu Gris...and the line called "Caprices du Dandy."

LOL! All of the ELdO offerings are tongue-in-cheek. And now they are relaunching (for Christmas) "Noel au balcon." Il y a du monde au balcon, indeed... LOL!

Hermes, as a house, has my favorites.
Guerlain has plenty of good ones too.

Serge Lutens and Amouage very good and consistent with names.

Etat libre d'orange the hands down winner for being most flip and fun.

The Robert Piguet line-up's names are quite sophisticated:
Fracas, Bandit, Futur, Visa, Baghari, Cravache, Calypso.

+1 for the Robert Piguet names (Fracas, Bandit, Futur, Visa, etc...) These are exceptionally well-crafted. Classy and yet completely unpretentious and a little bit fun. Almost language-neutral, francophonic without edging into perfume French-comme-il-faut.

I like the Amouage product names, too, but "Amouage" kills it for me. It seems to neatly encapsulate everything that's wrong with perfumery: pretentiousness, pseudo-Frenchiosity, strident insistence that fragrance is all about l'amour. Not to mention the long list of fragrance brands that sound practically identical in that three-syllable-ish a-to-zh-ish sort of way: Alliage, Amarige, Azuree, Aramis, Armani, Arpege, Azzaro... Terrible.
