Default Feature article on the House of Caron

This from Fragrantica: an article on Caron.

I love Montaigne and it is featured in the article. Of course, the street Ave Montaigne was named after the French Renaissance poet!

Fab article Primrose- thanks for sharing it. I am now drooling ( again ! ) over those perfume fountain urns . If I were in London, I know I would be hot footing it to Fortnum's to sample my fave Carons again.
I do wonder if Caron's new website is up and running with their online shopping yet.

Beautiful. I have the large Caron book which does tell this story already, but lovely to have it out online and in english.

The new Caron is up, not sure about online ordering though?

Michelyn's article was beautifully written, and carefully researched !

Interviews are her forte, no question ;-)

Lovely article. I think I need to revisit Montaigne I recall liking it but I feel like I would love it now...

Thank you, Primrose, for posting the article link. The House of Caron interests me. This morning I'm re-sampling Narcisse Noir and enjoying it very much!

Question Re: Feature article on the House of Caron

IMHO Caron needs to start thinking outside the box they have confined themselves within. Perhaps a new Nose is needed to bring about a more modern Caron without loosing it's heritage scents. I would think that someone of the stature and creative genius of a JC Ellena is the key to their future success with a younger market and they need to return their classic scents to their original formulas. Just my opinion. What are your thoughts?

It must be. It was enclosed with other samples sent to me with a gift certificate to a perfume shop. This must be the EDT, because it doesn't last long on me. I am just LOVING it, however! I can only imagine the parfum, and the vintage must be something else! Have you tried NN? What do you think of it?

I loved Narcisse Noir in extrait ( especially the bottle ) but I adore Tabac Blond and En Avion in extrait. I am sure I smelt reformulations but whatever I smelt, was wonderful .

I have never tried the current version, only the vintage. I should try it sometime. I still think Tabac Blond (current) is wonderful. Don't let Turin scare you. He only smelled it on paper anyway.

I managed to find an enjoyment of new Tabac Blond when I started to think of it as a flanker rather than a reformulation. There is a sweet, gournandy top note there that isn't in my vintage sample. However, when I stopped thinking of it as a classic dirty leather and started thinking of it as a spice scent with strong leather and tobacco basenotes, it suddenly seemed a lot more loveable!
