Mugler Cologne or Gendarme 20
Thread: A Fresh, Clean, and Soapy smell
Is there a good smelling cologne that smells Fresh, Clean, and Soapy. Something that will just make me smell clean like soap rather than a cologne with a bunch of spices. I was thinking maybe Polo Sport?
Prada Amber pour Homme

Versace Man Eau Fraiche
I'd say go for Prada Infusion d'Homme if you're looking for high-end, luxurious soap, or Fcuk Him if you're going for a low-end sort of "drugstore," deodorant and shower gel clean.
I refuse to sink.
Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood
Another vote for Mugler cologne. Also ck be.
I'm a Gendarme 20 fan. VERY clean- fresh linen kind of smell. The also make a KILLER of a bath soap too.
"20" is lavender and may be the strongest.
"V" is a little vetiver
Regular Gendarme very fresh but it has worst longevity.
I get pretty good legs out of "20" and my skin is a real scent sucker.

I have: Davidoff Relax, Dior Homme Sport, Boss Selection, Azzaro Visit, and Creed MI (will provide # on bottle for verification) available.
Looking for the following: DG The One, Himalaya, YSL L'Homme, John Varvatos (not vintage) Canali For Men or Paypal.
Obsessions of the Moment- Kristiansand EDC, Green Irish Tweed, Zizan
Granted, we've known each other for some time. It don't take a whole day to recognize sunshine. ~ Common Sense

Definitely Prada Infusion d'Homme.
Hmmm soo many choices, Thanks for the suggestions.
I swear we just had this thread two days ago... Oh well.
Add my votes to Mugler Cologne, Prada Amber Homme and Infusion d'Homme.
Either of the Prada's for men, but especially the Infusion d'Homme
Puro Lino : a Fresh, Clean, and Soapy smell that lasts and lasts...
Before most of the above was Canoe by Dana. Cheap, no doubt, but lasts all day, giving off beautifully soapy yet crisp sillage. I have Gendarme 20 which is a beautiful frag, but prefer Canoe.

ointments and perfume delight the heart....
Agree with the Prada recs and also the Mugler.
Another to consider is Nautica Voyage. Smells like the blue irish spring, if i recall correctly. Well, it smells like some blue bar of soap.
I was on this quest before myself. Hands down: Prada Infusion d'Homme.
I have Puro Lino, Gendarme, etc etc but IdH is flat out the best quality, longest lasting clean, soapy scent out there.
I didn't find that IdH had much longevity. Am I crazy here? I loved the scent otherwise, but its poor longevity was a kicker for me.
I agree with Prada Infusion d'Homme & Mugler Cologne..
Both are favorites of mine
Also you might want to try Comme Des Garcons Anbar, very fresh and clean.

Might I also suggest Francis Kurkdjian's Cologne Pour le Matin. It's similar to Prada Infusion d'Homme but less synthetic and harsh, and less soapy (you may very well, like me, fine IdH *too* soapy)
Gendarme Approved ....Azzaro chrome also smells like a fresh soapy scent to me
+ Prada ( Amber , Infusion ) , MUGLER cologne
+1 each for Gendarme, Mugler Cologne, and L'eau par Kenzo. Love them all.
Not that it needs more votes, but CK Be will definitely get mine!
Polo Sport is indeed very fresh, clean and uplifting, though I personally do not associate it with "soap(y)" - we all have our own understanding of "soap(y)" anyways.
Dlish Clean for Men and ...duh, Mugler Cologne or you can go for Creed's Original Vetiver if you feel more spendy.

Paco Rabanne Pour Homme
Gendarme Grabazzi is my choice.
Its one of my top office scents (alongside Himalaya and Original Vetiver).
Gendarme cologne for a light, fresh, albeit somewhat fleeting scent.
Gendarme parfum for a little added longevity.
Puro Fino for a slightly more floral fresh. Can't do wrong with any of them. Have owned and loved them all. An added bonus for the PF is it's on sale this month....
Someone needs to finally shoot down Mugler cologne a bit. I don't associate it with clean. I don't even find it particularly well made or elegant. It is an overcandied, overbergamotted, overflowery concoction, that is just facile, overthetop and somewhat childish as in kid in a candystore. It is not elegant. It tries real hard to appeal to everyone and thus comes off as pedestrian and inelegant to me. I don't like wearing it, too much too soon. Something clean should not be crammed with all that sugar and sweetish floweriness. I find Crown Perfumery Buckingham to be clean, with a surprising longevity. Penhaligons Castile is clean too, although not as subtle as the Crown. Some Lavenders are fresh and clean, many are not. Caldey Island is the cleanest. Villoresi, Creed and Czech and Speake Oxford are not.
Mugler cologne. I get a floral scent from it though.
The Body Shop's White Musk for Men
I believe it's the pradas that you need.
i was disappointed as they just smelled like very high quality slightly intoxicating soap
I immediately think of D&G pour homme.
Prada Amber Pour Homme
Versace Eau Fraiche
D&G Pour Homme
Maybe even Hermes Un Jardin le Se Nil (excuse the spelling)
The sense of smell, like a faithful counsellor, foretells its character.
Maybe these as well?
-Vetiver Hombre by Adolfo Dominguez (very fresh, clean, soapy with a little vetiver twist)
-Open by Roger & Gallet (dry-woody, fresh, soapy and very longlasting but also a little spicy)
My Top '10' : (In no particular order)
- Dolce & Gabbana: Pour Homme (vintage)
- Annick Goutal: Ambre Fetiche
- Loewe: Esencia/Pour Homme/Solo
- Davidoff: Leather Blend Edp
- Revillon R
- MPG: Santal Noble
- Acqua di Parma: Colonia Intensa Oud
- Histoires de Parfums: 1740 Marquis de Sade
- Pal Zileri: Cuoio
- YSL: Kouros (Fraicheur)
Jo Malone Lavender and Amber
Damn, never found this thread, as I just started a thread of my own on this exact same topic last week...
My conclusion was that the Prada's and Gendarme line were some of the top to try (other than mugler & original vetiver) for what I was looking for. Have a sample of the prada amber coming in the next day or two & hoping that works out well.
Floris No. 89 (not vintage)
There are several Prada fragrances that smell like soap (mentioned above).
I don't think Mugler Cologne or Creed OV smell soapy at all to me.
1. Creed - Spice & Wood
2. Creed - Aventus
3. Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver
4. Xerjoff - Fars
5. Dior - Vetiver
6. Creed - Green Valley
7. Clive Christian - 1872 for Men
8. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
9. The Different Company - De Bachmakov
10. Creed - Royal Scottish Lavender
Acqua di Parma Essenza smells like old fashioned hard milled soap.

Creed OV over Mugler any day.
Faconnable is probably one of the best soapy / barbershop fragrances. Also, you can pick up a bottle for around $25-30.
