Thread: Givenchy Gentlemen Question
i was at the store and i saw they have the new version of GG but they also have smaller bottles like a 1 oz where the label wraps around it. is the small bottle the original version?
It is 15 usd so i think imma go get it in 30 mins... Just to have the original.
I own a 50ml bottle of the new reformulated GG and have not come across the old version bottle before. I believe there have been threads in the past discussing the difference between the new and old GG bottle design. If the one u found is vintage, you are one lucky guy !

What color is the sticker that wraps all the way around?
Usually the sticker wrapping all the way around would indicate that it's vintage, but I'm not sure about the 1oz bottle. Also, what does the box look like? If it has the crazy black and white graphics and the label on the bottle is silver, then it's definitely vintage.

Beauty Encounter has the 1oz vintage bottle listed, but after you order it, and it's confirmed, they send you an out of stock message. Arrrghh!
The label wrapped around the bottle is silver.
Two weeks ago, I E-mailed Beauty Encounter if they still had the 1oz vintage GG. The Lady E-mailed me back, saying they still had Vintage GG. When I ordered and received it, it was the reformulated stuff...
Of course, I returned it and I am still waiting for my refund...

MikeB, I can assure you that the 1 oz. bottle is the old stuff. I used to wear it years ago and the 1 oz. bottle was the size I used to buy. I also currently own a 1 oz. bottle, and it is definitely the old stuff. Givenchy doesn't offer GG in 1 oz. bottles anymore.
Great find MikeB. Enjoy it
I was especially looking for the vintage some years ago and found it on eBay way back then. Strong stuff and heavy on the patchouly. Only one or two sprays. And wait at least 20 minutes until you show yourself to the world. I read the advices myself here on basenotes and found them to be oh so true.
If you can't find the vintage version of GG, I've discovered that Mazzolari Lui's middle notes are a quite a good approximation of the civet/patch accord, albeit a rather expensive way to go.
