I'll be the first of probably many to mention Red Vetyver and Ormonde Jayne Isfarkand. I like Isfarkand the best of all three.

You might want to try Everlast Original 1910. It's also got strong grapefruit, but it's fresher, and the base is not as harsh either, with a nice tonka and leather combination. However, it's all about what you seek, not about what is "objectively" similar. When someone says "better," I think of things like better quality ingredients, for example, but you haven't told us what it is that you think would be better.

I think there is some similarity to Terre d'Hermes with Timbuktu by L'Artisan Parfumeur; I also agree with Red Vetyver by Montale. I actually like Terre dHermes.

Some are similar, none are better IMO.

Bigarrade concentre and Cologne Bigarade are in the same boat, and less synthetic-feeling.

Don't expect them to smell like TdH clones though - they have their own personalities, but the same orange-cedar-dryness.

    Just buy the Terre d'Hermes.

Nothing mentioned so far is remotely close (in overall scent) anyway. Fragrances rarely are once you actually own a bottle.

Gianni Campagne EDT has better citrus, a more accessible/sweet orange, and a little less minerals, if that suits anyone whi thinks Terre D'Hermes is "almost there"

+1 on Isfarkand and Red Vetyver...however, we dont really know what aspect of TdH you find substandard...

Red Vetyver definitely smells very very similar to Terre D'Hermes. To be honest with you, I cannot tell them apart from each other.
If however a straight wrist test is made with each of them sprayed on different wrists, you will find some subtle differences between the two.

However I love TdH to the core and it doesn't have any flaw IMO.
You can even try the TdH Parfum and see whether you like it better.

    Eau des Merveilles by Hermes

Marketed to women, but no less masculine than TDH--in my opinion. Better because the citrus is less sharp.

I thibk Gianni Campagna is slightly closer to TdH than Red Vetyver. It's this one (put out by the same firm that does Caraceni) incase no one has sampled it:

True, good point. I just dislike TdH overall. I guess I prefer the natural feel of Isfarkand and it being a little more sparkling.
