Default Suggestions for a new guy

Can anyone suggest any scent that doesn't have patchouli or anything close. Besides hating the smell, it instantly sours against my body chemistry. I am new and know that I can wear Dolce & Gabano and Cool Water well. I can wear Burberry Weekend occassionaly. Scents such as Polo Green, Escape, Obsession I just can't do. I fair well also with sweeter smells and occasionally drier smells. I do have an oilier skin around the face, if it matters. Unfortunately, I am only familiar with the common store scents. I am probably not ready to invest a lot into unfamiliar scents at this point. I am definitely not knowledgeable enough for that.

    Thanks for any help.

Hmmm, sounds like most chypres are out for you :P

A few Masculine frags you might like are:

    - Zino - Davidoff...Not patchouli..though lavender.
    - D&G Pour Homme - A nice frag, luxurious and content.
    - Azzaro Pour Homme - No Patchouli at all, though is full of amber, jasmine, leather and mildly sweet spices. A Lovely frag!
    - Pierre Cardin - Has Patchouli, though is EXTREMELY unnoticeable. A vanilla, leather and luxurious frag! lovely!
    - L'artisan - Dzing! - Only if you're into leather frags. A heads up, Awesome!
    - Frederic Malle - Musc Ravegear - Has had some great reviews, musky, sensual and all round greatness! do try!

    Cheers and good Luck!

These are some of my favorites, that I don't think have patchouli. If you like Cool Water, you may like any them.

    L'eau par Kenzo
    L'Eau D'Issey
    Gendarme
    Mugler Cologne
    Bvlgari Pour Homme
    Versace Pour Homme

Maybe not. Patchouli isn't my best friend either, but some of the older chypres (usually green or leather) work very well for me.

Since Cool Water is a fougere, maybe:
Grey Flannel - floral, I'm not sure it's really sweet
Paloma Picasso Minotaure - I think this may be a bit sweeter than CW

    For something woodsy (usually drier):
l'Occitane Eaux des Baux or Vetyver
    Gucci Pour Homme II
    Terre d'Hermes

DG Light Blue, VS Very Sexy for Him, Versace Eau Fraiche, AF Fierce, Lacoste Essential, others. I think you should pick an afternoon and go samples these before you buy. Happy Hunting!
