    Default Thoughts on Dior Fahrenheit?

Smelled it the other day and was very impressed, unforunatly couldnt get it on my skin only on the strip...how is longevity, projection? It is an expensive fragrance (almost as much as chanel!!) but i can only get one...how does it compete with top notch fragrances? thanks

Unforgettable & quirky, it's insane. It's also insane I don't own it yet.
But longevity doesnt seem to be its strong suit...on my skin that is.

This one has a very good sillage and longevity. There is an American living in my area who seems to enjoy Fahrenheit far too much. I can still smell it in the air although he is about 20 meters away.

Fahrenheit is a love/hate fragrance. I think it's great, but I feel too young to wear it myself.
    Longevity and sillage are good.

Fahrenheit is manly and sexy. The name matches the scent perfectly - it feels like it radiates heat. I sprayed three times one day. 20 minutes later I walked past a girl on the street while on the way to class and she started coughing like crazy. I was like 5 feet away from her! 2 sprays max!

I really liked the original Fahrenheit - I am not too keen on the reformulated version found today.

I also really like Fahrenheit Absolute - one of the best new releases IMO.

While it is a top quality frag, subjectively speaking, I am not keen on wearing it, nevertheless, the notes, the lasting power and the projection are all excellent.

Make sure you get the "old cap" bottle. One year ago I got the "straight cap" bottle, and it was the most watered down reformulation I ever saw. I quickly got rid of it, and luckily got some older/used bottles in my area (one of them is a splash pre-2000 bottle).

Another Fahrenheit fan here. I like the progression of the notes and it's always an interesting experience to wear Fahrenheit. However, silage ain't too good on my skin but longevity is above average.

An absolute masterpiece. I do concur with other members; "look for older stock" pre-reformulation is best. It lost some of its zing when it was tweaked.
It truly is one of those scents that when I smell it on a man...well, my mind wanders, to places it shouldn't. That is how great it is.

I have owned a 75 ml splash bottle of vintage Fahrenheit since 1989. My relationship with it has been a bit of a love/hate one. I have probably only worn it a dozen times since I purchased it. Earlier tonight, I splashed some on and asked my wife to comment on it. I got some very interesting feedback from her. Smelling it over the period of around 2 hours, she ultimately described it as taking a raw steak, marinating it vigorously in gasoline and Worcester sauce, and then splashing this lovely mixture on myself. I find it a little more pleasant than that, but not much. Fahrenheit wasn't a blind buy for me. It smells exactly the same today as it did in 1989 (I am a very precision-oriented frag storage monger), but I for some reason don't find it to be as attractive now as it was back then.

I've heard mixed opinions about it, It's similar to kouros in that perspective, though in olfactory reasonings, it's apparently a potent beast! Would love to try it! Or I could just rub up against that guy who you mention, I guess if I'm 5 meters away from him
I could probably get some sillage residue :P

hate that stuff, it's vile on me and to me. Longevity is sickeningly great, sillage is quite good. But if it gets you off, then go for it, you got my support.

New Fahrenheit Absolute is much more wearable to me, very good release, I was begining to fear that ALL new releases are just generic sweetened alcohol with water, Fahrenheit Absolute is proof that some houses are capable to create new classics even today...

I am a bit of a fan. This is one where the distance makes a big difference. If I walk near someone wearing it, I get florals like violet and also some kind of cedar or something. On my own skin, up close, I notice the tarry/gasoline notes that the video reviewer mentioned.

I NEVER thought of gasoline with Fahrenheit and I've been using it for over ten years. Then I read some reviews here, and looked for the gasoline note - and FOUND IT! No wonder I like Fahrenheit so much. I love the smell of gasoline, diesel, hell, I even love the smell when you strike a match. Believe it or not, I'm not a pyromaniac!

Not a great fan of this one. There was this old relative we used to visit when I was very young whose house smelled exactly like Fahrenheit. That strange almost intense leather type smell. I got bored senseless every time we visited them, so maybe it's the bad memory which prevents me from liking it. It's certainly a unique fresh scent though.

I admire it from a distance for its uniqueness, but wouldn't wear it. That synthetic petrochemical note gets annoying, and doesn't fade on my skin.

Fahrenheit is a classic scent, the key to using this fragrance lies in its application, its beauty shines when applied sparingly, however if not applied in moderation one is bound to experience the gasoline effect.

This is going to be my next purchase, next week some time.

Hopefully it's not weak. I've smelled it before so I know I like it, just worried about 'reformulated' bottles.

One of my favorites and just recently acquired a bottle of the reformulated version and have been wearing it. The original is better, but it's also much harder to wear. The reformulated version seems fresher and the top notes aren't as rich. Otherwise they're pretty close.
    My current favorites:

Bleu De Chanel, Creed Green Irish Tweed, Zino Davidoff, Dior Homme Intense, Creed Royal Oud, M7 (all versions), Chanel Egoiste, Dior Homme Sport, and Thierry Mugler Pure Malt.

I am wearing this now as my SOTD and it is imo one of the best fragrances for men and beats a lot of fragrances out today. And I am one of those that just loves that oil accord which may put some people off the scent.
