Default What do you dislike about Vetiver by Guerlain? (GV fans not allowed ; )

Guerlain has been raping vetiver for decades.
    Thoughts?

Smelling weird, yet due to a less generic (at least, according to mainstream) kind of frag doesn't annul smelling great (according to Basenotes)

Hmm, I have had this same experience with Kouros, For a simplified verdict I say, If they don't appreciate your scent though it doesn't deter them away from you then thats fine! keep wearing it! Though if it's of the latter, Ie; you're being rebuked and patronized by one then I guess for their sake and for your sake of wanting to communicate with them I guess you need to cut
back on the frag, Especially if it's a good friend and or first date

Just wear frags that offend people at home. Remember Perfumery is a kindred thing, Inclined to your indulgences and shouldn't have to be applied for other people to adorn laurels amongst you.

    Cheers and take care!

I think I'd rather afraid of moments like "he smells great, but doens't look cute/handsome/etc".

How do you feel about smelling weird?
I don't mind smelling strange, I just don't want to smell like anything someone associates with the traditional smell of men's cologne. That scent association is not something I want. I want to smell abstract and aloof...nothing too literal or easily interpretive to the average person. Just a vague hint of something unique and hard to categorize. I like the idea of enigmatic smells that others ponder over...like they could be wafting from an object, or process...but not a person.

I wear the more conventional scents when going on dates or important outings (don't wanna smell like cherry cough syrup oud in all situations) - otherwise I wear wtv I'm in the mood for. In the end though, it doesn't matter what you wear, as long as people start to associate you with the smell. If they like you, they'll like your fragrance too - can't believe this took me years to realize!

Sometimes I wonder what people think when I'm operating in an especially thick nebula of creations like Coco EDP, Lovely EDP, Narciso Rodriguez for Her EDT, Pure Poison Elixir, Jungle L'Éléphant EDP, Angel EDP, etc. A regular guy-next-door type reeking of rich scents marketed to women. Crazy!? ;-0

Most common reaction: You smell good
2nd Most: You smell like my grandma
My reaction to #2: complete indignation.

Trenchant. Just as two examples. AdG and any CK scent. Designer scents, mass marketed, usually over-applied to gain the attention of the opposite sex. The comment or reputation I abhor would be: "Jeez, you take a bath in that stuff?!" People talk a lot about sillage. Sillage is important, no doubt, but I've always imagined that it should be very very subtle.....i.e., you're not trailing a jet stream of frag....I digress...that's my two cents...

I don't think I ever had someone say anything bad about the scents I wear. I either get no comment (have yet to get a single comment on A-Men which annoys me to no end) or "You smell good". Plus my friend always wants to try my cologne because he says I always have good stuff.

That's because they don't want to get their damn butts kicked!
