Default Birthday Fragrance Purchase - 1st Niche

    Hello fellow BNers,

I want to buy myself something new for my 23rd birthday, which is today, and I'd like to get something for the upcoming spring/summer. I really enjoyed wearing Live Jazz last year during the summer, and I'd like something that is somewhat similar (ie. citrus but with some other elements like sweetness or green-freshness).

I've also been meaning to branch out from designer fragrances and buy something niche. If you have any niche favorites that you think might be appropriate for the coming season and might suit my tastes, please help me out!

Chanel's Eau de Cologne may be worth looking into if you want a nice, light, summer scent. Also, try Sycomore (also by Chanel) for a wonderful vetiver experience, which may fit the bill.

L'eau d'hiver by Malle...at Barneys. It is like JPG Le Male...But without the lav and Vanilla overdose. Its a carmelized almond...with beautiful florals.

Why don't you try Philosykos (Diptyque)? It's a sappy green fig-themed scent, and slightly sweet but not at all cloying. Easy to wear and versatile, but different enough from the mainstream that it stands out.

    Happy Birthday!

If you want citrus with sweetness or green freshness, maybe Creed Original Vetiver or the less-expensive Jo Malone Vetyver. But I still think the ultimate citrus + green/fresh scent is Bond No. 9 Eau de New York.

And, as an added bonus, either the Creed or the Bond would give you a good insight into the heavier concentrations and the richness you can start to get out of better-quality frags (I still remember being blown away by the huge difference when I first discovered and "got" my first nicer scents)
Has everyone checked out my Top 100 Blog??

Mona di Orio Lux for a gorgeous citrus with animalics, or Frederic Malle French Lover. The FM isn't citrus, but juicy green with a great incense base.
