    Default Teach me, please.

I've been reading BaseNotes for about a year, and I've used the opinions posted here to steer me toward fragrances I want to check out. However, I haven't been able to train my nose to recognize the particular notes in an accord. Now I've stumbled on an opportunity to take a step in that direction. My favorite barbershop fragrance is Tabac Original. I've frequently been wearing the splash-on cologne on Saturday mornings. I just bought Tabac spray-on EDT without testing it. The two are obviously different; though they are definitely brothers, they are not identical twins. So ... would any of you with more educated noses please explain what it is that accounts for these differeneces? I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

(Btw, the 3.2 oz cologne was only $7 on sale at Perfumania's brick-and-mortar store. Also found Baldessarini for $25! Sale ends tomorrow.)

You are quite right. The EDT and Cologne are different scents, with the cologne being my preferred version.

The EDT is spicier (i really cant determine which spices though) with a shrill vetiver-laden drydown, compared with the lovely soapiness of the Cologne.

guys, is the 10 oz bottle filled with cologne? I just bought this one at 1stperfume.... I hope it is not the EDT. Also, do you know if the cologne can be used as an after shave?

I dont think the EDT comes in 10oz. The EDT bottle is an ovoid cylinder, unlike the martini-shaker shape of the Cologne.

There is an After Shave, so i think that would be the better choice for the purpose.

The lasting power between the two obviously differs as well

So the "dryness" and relative calm of the edt, compared to the cologne, can be attributed to the vetiver? ...and the absence of other notes in the edt that are present in the cologne?

Coupled with the added spiciness, it seems so, from repeated wearings.
