Thread: CAP:ON or OFF
Does it really matter whether or not you leave your cap of your cologne on or off??????
As said. The sprayer mechanism is sealed well, so there's little loss.
Yes - bottles look much nicer with a cap.
If only for esthetic reasons, I always leave them on.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve other individuals' acknowledgement or respect.
I usually leave them on unless, of course, I've purchased a tester without a cap. Although I did recently purchase a bottle of Jardin d'Almalfi and the plastic cap had a really bad smell to it, which caused the sprayer to smell as well. After one or two sprays, the fragrance itself smelled just fine. As a result, that is the only cap I do not use.
I don't think it makes a difference. That said, I can't stand a bottle that is missing the cap. Caps are a must have for me.

I wish they'd make all caps like the Terre d'Hermes cap that twists down and up instead of coming off all together. I leave the caps on, but I don't believe it does any harm to remove or discard the caps if you choose.
I find it easier to keep track of caps if left on the bottle.
I like the appearance of having caps!
When I wanna freshen my bedroom I take the caps off all my bottles. My room smells like Neimans
Silver Mountain Water
Good to know since my Montale bottle doesn't come with one.
