Default What would be the male equivalent of Kenzo Amour?

I like/love most female fragances from the Kenzo House. I particularly love Amour's sensualness.
To date, I don't like any of the male Kenzo fragrances.
Is there any masculine fragrance that is close to or shares the same vibe as Kenzo Amour?

Not a masculine per se, but the unisex Ego Facto line has a fragrance, Poopoo Pidoo, that might be what you're looking for? I wrote a thread about it here: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/242...Facto-a-review

Why, may I ask, don't you just wear Amour? If you like it, who cares if it's marketed to females? In addition, Amour has a couple of flankers that might appeal to you as well, Kenzo Amour Indian Holi, Amour Le Parfum and Amour Florale.

Mike, thanks for the quick reply and the advise of Poopoo Pidoo (funny name), I never heard of it before and it would be almost certainly a blind purchase since it's nowhere available over here. However, according to your review, it falls in the same vein as Amour.

I'm not willing to wear Amour myself, since my (ex)gf wears it. I find it to be very feminine. What I'm searching for is a fragrance that shares the play doh/vanilla/rice steam/baby powder notes but more masculine.

Have you tried Tiffany for men? If so, how do you compare the two?

I would have to say either Kenzo Vintage even though it is still pretty feminine by some standards and maybe Bois Farine if you are feeling really brave! =D

Another option I thought of tonight: Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior.

I liked Amour Indian Holi on a woman, but IDK the male equivalent is...

Another vote for Bulgari Black. You may also like Kenzo Peace Vintage Edition which is like BB without the rubber. Also, another by Annick Menardo (aside from Hypnotic Poison which she also did) is Lolita Lempicka, the feminine version which is very wearable by a man.

Why not just buy Kenzo Amour?
If fragrance has a gender, so does all art.

Hm, I don't to see the similarities between Black and Amour ...
I haven't tried Tiffany for men yet.
Hypnotic Poison is a feminine fragrance, and as mentioned in the topic title, I'm searching for a male fragrance.

Don't let gender distinctions discourage you, you probably will end up dissatisfied if you do.

Like mentioned multiple times before: I'm searching for a male fragrance, which part of that don't you understand???

Perhaps the fact that a fragrance bottle has no genitals? Amour reminds you of your ex and you don't wish to wear it - perfectly valid reason. No need to get all up in arms about it being feminine and thus unwearable, though.

The distinctive thing about Amour is the creamy-rice steam-heliotrope vibe, right? So perhaps you need to seek out some other fragrances that are either creamy or feature heliotrope. Try Les Néréides Opoponax Impérial or Costume National 21 for creaminess/milkiness. For heliotrope, maybe Etro Heliotrope, Gucci EDP I or D&G Feminine (yes, really).

monoi, you're contribution is useful, whereas justaguy doesn't read what's already posted above and keeps repeating himself.
I love Kenzo Amour on women but would want something similar and more masculine smelling for myself ...

    I feel flattered.
Thing is, "masculine" and "feminine" smells are not objective descriptions. I can only decide for myself what is too butch or too femme, not for you. It may well be that you find my recs too feminine, too - but the only way to tell is to try them.

    Givenchy Pi
    Gaultier^2
    Jaipur Homme

However Jaipur Homme is the only one approaching the quality of Bulgari Black, in my opinion.

Close your eyes and... by Miller et Bertaux

    Very closely related to Armour.
But once you get locked into a serious perfume collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

I too find Kenzo Amour a little too feminie for my taste.
So +1 on Jaipur Homme and Imperial Oppoponax. Also try Arpege pour Homme.

And what do you think of Jungle L'Elephant? I find it quite masculine although not quite in the style of Amour.

In defence of justaguy, I actually find his 'reminder' useful (not that you need one) else I'd have avoided many female-marketed fragrances which wear extremely well on a man. But a polite friendly tone certainly helps when one is here asking for some help.

Where Kenzo Amour is more quiet, L'Elephant is louder, extraordinary and eccentric, maybe more sexy. But I love to smell it on the right woman on special occasions.

Nice suggestions till now, I will try to test them soon.

L'Artisan Ambre Extreme, Balmain Ambre Gris, and Lutens Ambre Sultan are all unisex scents that exhibit the "playdoh/vanilla/rice" notes you desire. Lots of feminine marketed scents come to mind too, including several already mentioned, especially Hypnotic Poison.

Not to belabor this or push an agenda, but try making your own decision on which aromachemical concoctions smell "good" or "masculine" to you rather than a perfumer (at best) or some one in a corporate advertising role (most likely), or even any of us. But then again degustibus non disputantum est. Good luck testing!

This might come of as a stupid question but the Amber fragrances mentioned, are they similar to the drydown of Ultraviolet Men (I don't like that smell)?

I haven't sniffed the Ultraviolet Man (hopefull someone else can report) but other ambers I've tried range from awful to mediocre to stellar. Ambre Gris is my favorite from the above bunch.

Another +1 for Bulgari Black; but if you can handle it, try a relatively unknown "butch-y" feminine in this vein is Guerlain's L'instant Magic.
Q: How do you make a feminine fragrance masculine?
A: Add 'Pour Homme' to the bottle
