    Default if blue is calone or aquatic black is???

    In connection with a post about blue fragrances I would like to add further and ask a question.
    If the "blue fragrances" are most associated with Aquatics (calone); What are the black mainly associated to?
    I do not find a common ground within the "black" label phenomenon.Take for example Polo Black,Double Black, XS Black, Mandarina Duck Black, there is really nothing black about it since they are rather sweet. To me it will be more appropriate to call black fragrances the ones with lots of patchouli or the ones with gasoline/fuel/tar notes.
    Just my two cents

    Black/Noir/Noire=arbitrary floating signifier... but it's the new black!
    I offer you perfume,
    More for its pleasure than for yours;
    You perfume perfume.

    I think Black in the label most often indicates dark/extreme and heavy basenotes.

    On a mass-market perfume, the word 'Black' to me means 'We've created something really cheap and nasty but you will buy it because black is stylish'

    Black is night. Black is pepper.

    The "black" offerings are so hodgepodge and inconsistent from brand to brand. I think black *should* mean leather...but it doesn't always...**sigh**

    Antaeus is a "black" without the word black in it's name.

    This is pretty much it, although they are not all bad. Still, your comment is funny....but true to an extent Bossa makes some good points as well.

    I was/am a sucker for these "Black" fragrances. I actually do enjoy wearing Perry Ellis 360 Black and recommend it ...but only at a cheaper price ( than retail). I like Bulgari Black, but never wear it ( at least since the autumn season).

    I'm curious as to how the upcomming Kenneth Cole Vintage Black will be like. The bottle seems pretty cool, but the history of Kenneth Cole and these types of releases tells us that it won't be decent. I will still sample it ( if I can).
    Seeking: Bottles/decants : of Feeling Man, Gucci pour Homme, Essence of John Galliano, Nicole Miller (vintage), Opium pour Homme, Oxford & Cambridge...etc.

    Seeking decant/sample of Jil Sander Feeling Man, Cacharel Nemo, Bijan for Men EDC, Lanvin for Men, Giorgio VIP, Il Lancetti and other old school frags ....etc. I have samples to swap.

    Sweet woods, in my experience. Muskiness optional.
