Anubis by Papillon a few weeks ago.

However, yesterday I wore Portrait of a Lady and although I already know it so well, it had been a while since I'd worn it. Absolute masterpiece,

I agree on Lampblack. The ink note paired with the grapefruit in this is extremely satisfying; I enjoy it more than CdG2 now (itself a brilliant scent but a tad too powdery as my personal tastes have changed). Great artistic concept as well.

I've got to agree with you, truly one of the smoothest and unusually excecuted leathers I've smelt so far. Very original and truly stunning!

This is the love child of Declaration by Cartier and the regular Terre d'Hermes.
The parents were a slight miss for me... but the child has been blessed with the best attributes of each parent.

I can highly recommend that one myself. Recently obtained it and I must say its everything I was looking for in a rose scent. Very effervescent combined with great longevity.

    A sound investment.

Unfortunatelly, I can't find this scent in my country, so I need to go abroad, where I tested it.

I have about 5 brand new bottles and due to a cold I can't smell any of them. I'll report any "wowers " when I'm able to smell again.

I did not have any expectations on them, so they were a good surprise: La Nuit de l'Homme EdP and Lanvin Avant Garde. As to this one I enjoy an old school vibe I can get. I don't what is it.

Other than Onda Extrait, Leather Oud and Songe d'un Bois d'Ete, smelling all the great mostly unsweetened pre-1995 fragrances I own in their vintage formulations is usually the only thing that makes my world a little bigger.

That's a great point. Scents sure have been neutered. I feel ya.

Apparently you can strike Leather Oud off that list and put it in the "vintage" category already... it has already been tamed if some other BNers are to be believed!

I am on another one of my two to three times a year Las Vegas vacation fragrance testing binges and not many compositions outside of ones I already own impressed me, but the bottle of Javanese Patchouli at the Zegna boutique at Crystals absolutely *did*! I never thought I was much of a patchouli fanatic, but more and more of my compositions have a significant patchouli component and this stuff has made a believer out of me. Buying a bottle was an easy decision. Outstanding stuff.

Just in the last week - Insolite by Pafums de La Bastide - a wonderful recent surprise.

Not a new one - I've had this one for a long time now, but haven't cracked the bottle to even take a sniff from it all summer long - hot weather and all. But today a little voice in my head told me to take a sniff of Tom Ford Amber Absolute... and I did. It reminded me how gloriously awesome it is. Love absolutely everything about it, from the opening, to mid notes, to late drydown. Can't wait for the winter to come (well, in my case, that means 75-80 degree days, 60-70 degree evenings) so I can wear it again.

One word to describe it: WOW!!

BINGO! This one is not easy to get but it is oh so good. Wore it today. Amazing scent with great longevity and quite masculine after a touch of powder wears off at the start. One of the best rose based scents I have tried...and I have tried a lot in my search for a rose scent that does not smell like soap or Grandma's panty drawer.
