Default Creed Bois Du Portugal - Its All In The Application

I have a love/hate relationship with this fragrance which I have a full bottle of. When I spray this direct onto my skin and leave it. I get a overwhelming piercing lavender scent thats lasts and lasts and drowns out the other notes. Which I dislike.

But when I rub the fragrance in after spraying and I know people tell you never to rub the scent when sprayed. It transforms the scent into a great smoky woody scent, its like you get straight to the basenotes but with ommmphhh of the lavender mixed in from the top notes.

Now this works for me and makes the scent better when rubbed into my skin than if just left after spraying. Does anyone else think that some scents are better rubbed in than sprayed?

When people tell others not to rub, it's because it can change the structure, chronology of the scent. Not in a 'crushing molecules' way - which is probably the most funny pseudo-scientific myth - but in terms of evaporation.

Rubbing removes the smaller, easier to evaporate molecules, such as aldehydes and other citrus/floral components, out of the equation on your applied spot. So the end result is that you get a mid/base-dominated smell with the big, slowly evaporating molecules.

Yeah, by rubbing it in you're pretty much speeding up the opening development so that the mid and basenotes shine through earlier.

Good news when the top notes might otherwise turn you away from a frag. Thanks!
