Thread: Mimosa

    Default Mimosa

Mimosa absolute (Acacia decurrens) is thick and resinous. The scent of live mimosa flowers is distinctive, but is a little reminiscent of a mix of violets, leather, powder, and almonds. The absolute, diluted to 10% in perfumer's alcohol, is similar to the live flower scent, but lacks the vibrancy of the real thing.

There is an almond note, and it is also a bit resinous. Mostly, I get powdery sweet cotton candy from it, which is the violet reference you observed, but it's less astringent. The flower is so potent that the dilution is no small shakes. It's a rare floral top note.

A cotton candy smell is a very on target way to describe it.
