    Default Daniel Vaudd Perfumes

Today I received some samples from the new Daniel Vaudd perfume line. This line was mentioned a while ago on the Basenotes front page and since then, I have been dying to try them.

I have never been so excited about a range of perfumes since the days when I introduced Victoire Gobin-Daude, Ormonde Jayne and Andy Tauer.

Daniel specialises in the Chypre category, and he does it so well. I got samples of the 2 women's edps, alas, not the men's.

The one on my left hand is called Amplexus and within 5 minutes of applying it, I was in the 1920s. This is really a classical 1920s Chypre, it even reminded me slightly of, dare I say it? Coty Chypre, there I said it. The notes in this one are Bergamot, Clove, Orange Flower Absolute, Geranium, Jasmine Absolute, Rose Absolute, Resins, Oakmoss Absolute and Sandalwood. I can't stop sniffing my hand.

The one on my right hand is called Actus Reus, still a Chypre but less typical. This one is smoother and quite sensual. Again, my nose keeps being drawn to it. This one lists notes of Hyssop, Ylang Ylang, Aldehydes, Rose Absolute, Jasmine Absolute, Leather, Honey, Vetiver, Tonka Bean, Red Musk.

On top of all that, the perfumes contain 80% certified organic ingredients.

Here is a link to his website.....

There is a movie on the site where Daniel talks about his perfumes, you will fall in love with him instantly.
Fine fragrance is alive; it breathes, unfolds and unravels with each passing hour....

I also received the same two samples today and was hoping to try the men's fragrance from this line, but that will arrive soon. Having e-mailed Daniel to thank him, he confirmed Amplexus is unisex.

I heard about it here on Basenotes Front Page a few weeks ago my dear.

Hi Craig, yep, I emailed Daniel as well. To be honest, I could get away with wearing both of the women's perfumes. What are your thoughts on the 2 perfumes that you received Craig?

Not impressed to be honest, they smell cheap to me, but then again I do prefer something with citrus in mainly, so these are far different. Daniel did mention the samples are not as strong as the bottles you would receive if you purchase any. The main one I wanted to try was the one that didn't arrive. My girlfriend liked one of them, but said not enough to make a purchase as it's not lasted long on her. I still appreciate the fact that Daniel was very kind to send me these and it was great to get large samples, rather than the typical 1-2.5ml you normally would expect.

Possibly Craig, your nose isn't accustomed to smelling the classical Chypre accord. As I said, they take one back to the 1920s when Chypre was all the rage.
