    Question Tabu on a man?

    Hi guys!
Do you think that a man can wear Tabu, and get away with it?
Plese don't be too harsh - I'm really curious. Thank you!

A number of men on this forum do, so why not?

I've yet to try Tabu, though a lot of talk about it lately has made me curious.

I love wearing Tabu, it's a great night time fragrance. Vintage is always better. I love the root beer note, makes it almost a gourmand.

Exactly! Tabu seems to be making a comeback, and I think it may be a unisex fragrance.

I'm a guy and I wear Tabu on occasion. It's a filthy, raunchy patchouli and civet BOMB. I wear it because I like patchouli-heavy scents, which this definitely is.

I do not have experience with the vintage, but I agree with everything that he says.

    I agree too.

I like and wear Tabu, but I like Youth Dew even better.

I may wear it occasionally, but I don't know if I "get away with it"! I've never had anyone compliment me when I've worn it, so I don't know if I'm able to pull it off well. I still like it once in a while, though. It's not a great fragrance, but a pretty good one.

I wear it! Well, some vintage version at least, I have no idea what year-- but I have a feeling it hasn't changed as much as LT makes it out to be.
If fragrance has a gender, so does all art.

    Thanks for your replies, guys.
Why I asked? I gave a male friend a bottle, and he absolutely loves it.
Will people flock to him like bees? Will he become irresistible? How will this end?
    To be continued...

Not by itself, but excellent to give an open smile a second meaning!
( I am talking about layering it with an almost too pleasant perfume. )

Absolutely! This is a unique oriental, and it has a rather pleasant dry down. My wife has a bottle of Tabu in her collection, and I am certain that I will be wearing it more often than she will. It's not my favorite, but it is, in my opinion, a pleasant unisex oriental!

So would you recommend Jungle Gardenia as an acceptable alternative, Gary?

I do see the similarity to Lagerfeld.

It's better than Canoe. It's probably the richest smelling of anything that Dana makes.

I found that Madini Black Musk smells very similar to Tabu. It's practically a "parfum" version of it.

Tabu on a woman should be outlawed, I can't imagine why any man would wanna smell so vile.

I'll concede that the first 45 minutes or so does have a sort of cheap, dirty diaper smell to it, but give it a chance to settle down a bit, and Tabu is a good and pretty damn daring scent. It's a good scent if you really want to make a statement. I have to respect any scent that doesn't just copy every run of the mill Macy's-type scent.

Yes, it is more akin to Lagerfeld. Still, there is a vibe along CK's Obsession. Guess the reason is because they are orientals, am I right?

The difference being that this is another civet monster - that's why you get the slightly dirrrrty note jumping at you AND others.
