Default Guerlain Coriolan Vs. Coriolan Edition Limited

Anyone know what the difference is between the two?

I didn't even know a limited edition existed. I know it was it was re-badged as L'Ame d'un Heros.
Corioloan is one of my faves.

I didn't know of a Limited Edition version either. I love Coriolan (one of the best bottle designs out there and the fragrance is damn good too). I'd be interested to know if there was a difference too.
In a world where people smell bad, it is the personal responsibility of every Basenoter to improve the world one SotD at a time...

Joxer96, Would you please give us some information regarding where or how you came across the existance of Coriolan Edition Limited? This might help give us a chance to gather information about it.

    Thanks a lot!

Here is is perhaps the first fragrance in Basenote's history to undergo unprecedented "hype", simply by being discontinued. This, from what I can remember, did not provoke much discussion 8-9 years ago. The discussions it did, seemed to be negative overall, as the fragrance was viewed as a disappointment from such a house. I had a bottle. I barely remember having it, though, as the scent itself wasn't here nor there, and it must have became one of the first scents I traded or sold off (though I'm scratching my head to recall whether or not I actually ever threw one away).

That being said, I don't know the reasons for its discontinuation, but it seemed like it happened within a few years of being launched - which would signal it didn't perform well in the market (I do believe I received my bottle quite cheaply). So, now here we are, all these years later, and the red-headed step-child of Guerlain is getting attention anew as a limited edition. I certainly hope it smells better, but honestly, I have to laugh at the sudden interest. Unlike other beloved scents that have become discontinued over the years, for whatever their reasons, this one strikes me as being quite odd in its resurfacing.

One of the few Guerlain's, I detest.

I actually like to smell Coriolan on a sexy CEO in a custom made suit. This one should have been renamed Tom Ford For Men II, instead of the silly and pretentious L'Âme d'Un Héros.
Back on topic, I have never heard of the Limited Edition version of Coriolan either.

I found the limited edition on ebay. I really like Coriolan so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a bottle this morning. I don't think it's a new release, I'm willing to bet it was released some time ago. I'll be sure to report back once I receive the bottle.

Mr. G has a couple bottles in his collection wrapped in leather... maybe it's one of those?

I love Coriolan. I think it was the first Guerlain I ever bought.

I saw the leather wrapped bottles on Mr. G's site, but I don't think it's the same edition. Here's a link to the posting on ebay in case anyone wants to see what the bottle and packaging look like.:

    interesting.

I'm one of the Coriolan fans, so I'd probably have bought this myself.

Calling Mr. G! inventory management please!

We better ask Mr. Guerlain, he must have the answer.

The limited edition was, I think, only released as a 30ml.

To me, it is slightly richer, with a little ginger in the mix.

    It looks like this:

That's good to hear, I was afraid I may have just bought a repackaged version of standard Coriolan...not that it'd be a terrible thing, but I'm glad I'll be getting something slightly different.

What I just got today (from a BN member) looks just like that and smells wonderful.

    The bottle is a wonder.

I got some leather in the drydown... (will post a more cogent review after a few wears)

I'm of the opinion the "limited" is what they had left of the old. (completely out-there opinion it may be...)

Hmmmm, interesting possibility. I plan on doing a side by side comparison the moment I receive it.

The limited 30 ml bottle issue was a re-bottling, not a reformulation

Thanks, Mr. G. That's a bit of a downer. Oh well, I could always use an extra 30ml of Coriolan.

Update: Received the Limited Edition, and it is as Mr. G said, just a rebottling.
