    Good morning!

    Ormonde Jayne (Woman) for me

Die-hard perfume lover that I am. I arrived in London for brief stay. Had hours to kill before my hotel room would be ready. So I dropped off my baggage, and headed directly to Ormonde Jayne, which was only a 20 minute walk. There I chatted, sampled and stocked up.

Sadly I'm about to leave already for but I've enjoy every minute here.

Happy Birthday to our Birthday members!

Healing vibes to all those in need.

I rediscovered a small vial of Montale's Sweet Oriental Dream
last night amongst a box of samples. It's very pretty and sniffable,
so I shall wear it when I tutor my three pupils this afternoon.

Yeah, Chaya, have you seen lilybp anywhere any place as of late? Remember how she has figured out almost all of them teasers -- between the busy life of hers, scientific research and publishing books? I used to be reading her posts on MUA, but she has just disappeared.

Happy Birthday to Sunnyfunny and many fragrant surprises.

Eva, are you working on something about fragrances and notes at the moment? Please tell us more.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUNNYFUNNY!!!

And positive energy streaming to those sick in soul and/or body.

Am revisiting Ineke these days. A WONDERFUL BNer (you know who you are) suggested I try Chemical Bonding when I was going on and on about peonies, so naturally I re-ordered Ineke's beautifully presented $25 sample library. (And bought the CB - creamy peonies with tea!!)

Today it's Derring-Do (when was the last time any of us used THAT expression!) a musky fougere with more than hints of magnolia. I think I've grown up enough now to fully appreciate this lady's fumes - which are unpretentious and natural in the literal sense of the word. Refreshing!!

It's already been reformulated and now it's my understanding that it's been discontinued. It's probably a good idea to get an extra bottle or two while you can. I'm sure it will still be available but the price is likely to skyrocket.

Happy Birthday Sunnyfunny! Hope you have a blast!

Scent Twins with *bloomy* today I hope you like it better than I do.

    Wearing the anti-perfume today.

    L’Eau de Serge Lutens

Fresh and Clean are the equivalent of Safe and Boring. The department store counters are awash in a tsunami of Fresh and Clean. That is why many colognoisseurs turn to niche where the sensibilities aren’t always tuned to appease the general public. That is why when one of those houses, Serge Lutens, that I reliably turn to for something different announced the 2010 release L’Eau de Serge Lutens as the “anti-perfume” and his take on ironing and clean laundry in fragrance form I was not happy. Then I thought let’s see what someone who I think is very creative does with this theme can M. Lutens make me reassess my feelings towards this trend in fragrance?

The top of L’Eau is an aldehyde and citrus opening which is well-balanced, bright, and shiny. Oh yeah its boring, too. The citrus fades away and a pale mix of light magnolia and sage appears. The base is a sheer white musk so ubiquitous these days in a clean fragrance. This white musk with all of the animalic qualities scrubbed out has its place but at the end of a run of clean and boring it just heaps on more indifference until the only emotion L’Eau evokes is ennui.

L’Eau de Serge Lutens has excellent longevity and modest sillage.

L’Eau de Serge Lutens is the niche version of Febreze. It will make you smell generic and clean but don’t you want more from a fragrance? I know I do.

    Have a Wunderbar Wednesday everyone.

    Estee lauder - Azuree

1968 - A unisex chypre edp with notes of sea grass, water lily, jasmine, amber and musk.

2006 - Re-interpretation of the original; the second of the Tom Ford Collection.
    An oriental-floral chypre fragrance with top notes of orange blossom, artemisia and sweet basil;
heart notes of Tahitian flower, gardenia and coconut; on base notes of artemisia, patchouli,
    musk, white cedar and moss.

I believe I have an older bottle. I haven't tried the new version, although I am not sure.
I bought a back-up at some point (They could have gotten mixed) so perhaps they are close.
If anyone knows for sure, please speak up! This is a crisp-green, springtime, gem of a fragrance.

Today I think I'll put on YSL's Nu.

Oh! Yesterday was the first time I've ever had a stranger stop me in the street to ask me what perfume I was wearing. It was lovely but awkward, because she wanted to know where she could get it and it was from my sample of Amouage Epic Man. I have no idea how to tell someone where to get Amouage. She was surprised it was a men's cologne and then said "It smells so sweet and powdery!" Which gave me pause. I think she might have been talking about my deodorant.

Kumquat - the way I understand it is in 2007, Tom Ford presented Azuree Soleil which is a fruity-floral beachy scent that has nothing to do with Azuree except for the name (and I'm quite surprised to see moss even listed in this "re-working.") When TF left and Azuree Soleil was discontinued just a couple of years later, it was replaced with Bronze Goddess, which is virtually the same summery/beachy scent with a new name. The Azuree that's available today is the same green and mossy formula they've used since it was introduced in the late 60s, with just some subtle tweaking through the years.

Thinking of you, RHM and 30 Roses.

Bear with me here, because there's a story attached to this but my Scents of the day are:
    Left arm - Heeley Cardinal
    Left pinky - Penhaligons Maharanih
Left index finger - Different Company Sel de Vetiver
Right arm - Byredo Gypsy Water
Right index finger - Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang
Right pinky - Parfums del Rae Bois du Paradis

And this wide and interesting selection is because I spent the day in Basel with VMIHateCivet, Alica and Potiron. We came, we lunched, we sniffed ourselves into exhaustion. It was my first meeting with fellow 'Noters and it was brilliant.

Happy Birtday, Sunnyfunny! Healing thougths to all those in need of positive vibes.

SotD was CdG Kyto for the meeting with VM I hate civet, Alica and Wordbird. Brilliant ladies, all three of them.

    Tested:
Kilian Back to Black on the left index finger (indeed very similar to Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, perhaps a little more balanced)
Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles (I'm a sucker for pine - thank you Wordie!)
And a fig fragrance, very realistic and so enjoyable. Wordie, I've forgotten the name again... What was the figgy thingy called?

    Looking forward to Wordbird's story!

    SotD: Mademoiselle
    SotA: Coromandel
SotE: Guerlain Coriolan (just got my bottle in from one of our own)

Loving them all. Coromandel is from a TPC large decant, I think it's lovely but a little much for me. Good thing my 'fume buys are on a self-imposed grounding, I think I have enough scent in my cabinet for the rest of my life and then some!
