Default Show Some Love For Joop! Homme..!

So, today I finally got the 75ml Joop!
I'd ordered a week or so ago.
I ordered it without ever having sniffed
it, simply because I like my frags sticky
and sweet, and almost every single BNer
use the words 'sickly sweet' when talking
    about this.
And boy oh boy, I wasn't disapointed.
    I absolutely love this juice.
So nauseatingly sweet I can't help but
    dig it.
And it last forever - litterally!
2 sprays on top of each other
lasted 12 hours on me, before it
    even began to evapurat. Excellent!

Joop! was never popular, or even sold,
in Denmark, or Scandinavia for that matter
(correct me if I'm wrong), so the smell
    was unfamiliar to me.
It's not recognizable here, like for example
Le Mâle, so when wearing this, I will come
of as somewhat exotic, as nobody will know it!

    I'm in love!

    Any other Joop! fans outthere?!

I have always been a fan of it since 1990 nothing other then Angel has been unique as this in the designer fragrance market.

Sweet fruity over deep patchouli and tobacco.

I wore some Joop Rococo to work today. Not sure if it's bottle worthy, but I think it's certainly something to sample.

In December 2009 I found myself thinking about buying a 30ml bottle of Joop! I tried it several times, whenever I did I realized that it was not the kind of blend I felt comfortable with: I found the top notes way too sweet, and even though I enjoy sillage and longevity, I always thought Joop!'s was excessive.

Well, here I am, Joop! is finally in my wardrobe: the mid and basenotes are quite enjoyable.

Never had it until last year and have been reading the same disparaging remarks as you guys. Tell you the truth, I never smelled it on anyone else so it arrived totally unknown and now I can say that it's one I'll always have at least a little of around. Of course, all one needs is just a little bit of it since it's about as potent as anything ever unleashed on the cologne wearing public.

I applaud Joop! for its sheer audacity. I enjoy the notes, but man its strong! I've had a tester for years and there's still enough to scent an army.

If the price is right, sometimes I'll buy a scent that I know I don't like, but which I know is controversial or really innovative. I did that recently with Joop. I saw a 1 oz. for like 8 bucks and snagged it, even though I thought the stuff smelled like white powdered carpet cleaner with a basenote of melted plastic. I'm still pulling it out every once in a while to get a whiff of it, because I'm determined to figure out what it is about this scent that make some people go ga-ga over it. On a positive note, I don't hate it as much as I did initially. Also, I applaud its uniqueness, especially for its time.

I really like Joop! Homme, a victim of its own success. I don't have a bottle at the moment but, someday, i know will make a spontaneous purchase of it to add to the collection. A time-capsule gift for the grand-kids perhaps.......

I love you, Joop! Homme! I love you for being so sweet that Le Male looks like a glass of Campari in comparison. I love you for being reviled by the perfumistascenti™ and yet selling bucketloads every year. I love you for being the standard by which all men's fragrances are measured...in the opposite direction. I love you for being one of the cheapest frags on my local drugstore's shelf. I love you for spawning Joop! Go, which I will shout from the rooftops to all and sundry that I found perfectly pleasant, thank you very much, with a great citrus opening and a soothing drydown. Mostly, I love you for not being a follower, but a leader...or rather, a wallflower. Keep doing your own thing, Joop! Homme. And whatever you do, don't take advice from Stetson.

    Salut.

When we were dating back in 1999, my wife bought me 75 ml of Joop! Homme (in a gift set including 75 ml of aftershave balm - great!). I am so happy to own this one! She knew I had wanted it, and I think she likes it almost as much as I do. Actually, I love this juice. It's one of my favorites for my personal enjoyment. It is difficult to wear this one for work, as it really can scream. I can go a bit heavier on my days off, so that's usually when I wear it. Man, is this stuff powerful! I personally consider this one a powerhouse fragrance. But with Joop! Homme, too much of a good thing is NOT good.

It's interesting that while I love Joop! Homme, I absolutely loathe A*Men. Does anyone else feel this way?

the drydown has some redeeming coumarin and floral notes, but it is not worth enduring the rest of the fragrance.
I have a west african customer who wears this, and sometimes i will comment on it, as the smell is obvious, and he says "Oh yes, I wore it 3 days ago"

Hmmm..It's funny...it's soo darn distinctive yet I do not fancy it...Must be it's exorbitantly treacle procedures...But yes, I give it thumbs up for distinguished constituents, though for personal interests...there's just something about it...a sort of vanilla/musk and lavender accord to which I don't like......Oh well...But Yeah...Not a fan of Joop PH and Angel.....But I do love Fleur Du Male !

It's OK, however far from being one of my favorites. But I do think it is better than the majority of watered-down sh*t being sold. Ain't nothing light, ethereal or transparent about Joop Homme - thankfully.

First cousin to Jovan Musk for Men, in terms of "yes, kinda ok, but no, really can't do it." I like it in the way I like the movie "Heaven's Gate" -- excessive, kind of a train wreck, but you have to look, at least, because it's pretty in a weird, different way.

I'm a fan, too. I had never tried it until late last year, having been heavily influenced by the negative reviews. But as a collector I figured that it was something that I needed to own, so I bought a bottle, cheaply I might add, without even sniffing it.

As it turned out, I love the way it smells! I don't find it as treacly sweet or as tenacious as others do. It is sweet and strong and long lasting, but it wasn't anything close to being the outright monster that I'd expected.

    Good stuff!

When I was in Berlin recently, I smelled this on a number of guys. Also, Knize 10 seemed to be popular too. Go figure. But back to Joop Homme, I must say it was one of the first scents I bought and it's quite a revelation in masculine perfumery for a borderline feminine scent this to be so popular amongst the masses. May smell nicer on a lady, but I break it out once in while. EdP strength.

Yep, I found a 1 oz. bottle for $8.29 in the clearance section of my local CVS pharmacy a few weeks ago. It came with a dopp kit too. The juice was still good too (good as in not spoiled, not good as in smelling good).

    That's not quite right.
It lasts 5 days if you don't have a shower - very hand if you go on a five day hike in the mountains.

If you want a less strong version, get a bottle of Joop Homme Aftershave Splash. It only lasts two days.
But be extremely careful, it tends to sting like hell and make one's face go all red and splotchy, if actually used it after a shave. Just apply it like a cologne.
    Renato

P.S. Joop Homme is currently heavily discounted in lots of shops in Australia - A$35 (US$32) for a 125ml bottle.
I come across 5 or 6 people every day wearing it strongly. Or I come across 5 or 6 very strong sillages during the day in my office building, with nobody in sight.
