BMM10 The Road To The Final Spritz Guerlain Regional Final
We’re here in the City of Lights for the Guerlain Regional Final between the #8 seed Azzaro pour Homme and the #10 seed Chanel Egoiste. I’m Somerville Metro Man welcome back to The Road To The Final Four. We’re now three quarters of the way to filling out the Fragrant Four after tonight’s showdown at the Jacques Guerlain Arena here in Paris. It was a battle between the Lavender Loonies of Azzaro versus the Sandalwood Stompers of Egoiste. The arena was charged and ready to go as both bottles took the floor for their warm-ups.
Azzaro’s path to this game started with an easy victory over Jean-Paul Gaultier Le Male before two close matches in a row, winning by three over L’Artisan Dzing! and following that up with a one point win over Creed Silver Mountain Water. The lavender powerhouse had shown its staying power and was now facing another powerhouse in their opponent tonight.
Chanel Egoiste was one of five Chanel bottles in the tournament but by the end of the second round they found themselves the last bottle standing from Chanel. There was a lot of talk about the interlocked C’s being overrated and Egoiste felt the honor of their House was riding on their shoulders. Egoiste easily disposed of Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet in one of the first round’s biggest blowouts. They withstood a furious rally by one of the pre-tournament favorites Terre D’Hermes in the second round. That left them to face the defending champs Guerlain Habit Rouge whom they beat by two to advance to this regional final. Egoiste had to be feeling like the win over Habit Rouge showed they were now the favorite to win it all.
There was a crescendo of cheering as both bottles approached the mid-boutique circle for the opening spritz-off. The opening moments saw both teams in top form as the early going saw the score knotted at 10. Over the remainder of the half you could see the confidence Egoiste got from knocking off the defending champs had gone right to their atomizers as they kept hitting their shots. Azzaro wasn’t missing many but Egoiste wasn’t missing any. That led to Egoiste going into the half with an eight point lead, 29-21. The second half was almost a carbon copy of the first half. Azzaro came out and matched Egoiste early but as things wound towards the end they just couldn’t match the potent attack of Egoiste. While the final score might have been a little flattering to Egoiste it was the proper result as Egoiste goes to the Fragrant Four winning, 45-30. Egoiste is going to be a very tough bottle to put out but their Fragrant Four opponent will be Tauer Perfumes L’Air du Desert Marocain who haven’t had anyone keep it within double digits yet. It should be a great match.
Remember to keep voting and watching as only you have the ability to determine the winner.
One more slot left in the Fragrant Four and that will be filled by the winner of the Serge Lutens Regional Final between Boucheron Jaipur Homme and Serge Lutens Chergui. We’ll be heading across town to the grounds of the Royal Palais and the Shiseido Sports Center when we return.
Until then, I'll see you back here on The Road to The Final Spritz.
