Happy Birthday to our Birthday girls - Brielle & Kismet!

Well, one rose fragrance wasn't enough for me today. I ended up wearing four, SSS Rose Musc, SSS Velvet Rose, SSS Vintage Rose & AL Rosa de La Luz. My excuse/reasoning is that I'm getting ready to place an SSS order & I also wanted to make sure that Velvet Rose was different from my AL Rosa de La Luz perfume oil.

    TO BRIELLE AND KISMET!!!

Still reveling in Ineke (shakes fist at Evangeline...but girl! How did you ever stop at only THREE FBs!!) and today it's an amazing take on leather and tobacco called
    Field Notes From Paris
    .

The tobacco is brisk and flowered - not that round tobacco-barn hay-ey tobacco - and the leather is new too. There's a voluptuous honeyed sweetness and a hint of tea (I guess it's ackshully bergamot) Just another brilliant evocation of a familiar theme. My credit card has hidden itself somewhere in fear and trepidation.

Chrissie -- I just read over my answer and somehow I left out the best part - she really and truly dislikes most of my fragrances, says they're either too strong or that they smell like men's frags, which of course many of them are. What was so funny was how happy she looked when she said it. Like she was being encouraging and helpful. LOL.

I love Bois Farine and I always think of you when I smell it or see it mentioned. That and Safran Troublant, which makes me think of the summer I bought it when we all were together at Barney's, and you were glad to walk alongside me to catch whiffs of it.

Oh! - that's a great avatar, been meaning to tell you.

Daughters are a riot when it comes to their non-sensored fragrance commentary...funny thing ~ just as tdem's daughter, my own daughter dislikes most of my frags, but always compliments Lolita Lempicka!!!!! Go figure!

Today I'm in one of my favorite 'transitional season' scents, Neil Morris Fragrances Dark Earth. On me this tends to be a cool weather fragrance, but I find it perfect also for these chilly days of early spring - we got a dusting of snow this morning!

Tigrushka, you are back in Eau de Charlotte

I'm scentless for the moment- have Friday's off work and just did a bit of pruning in the garden, where I have mostly native drought tolerant species. They impart some heady natural scents. Salvias, rosemary, lemon blossoms, and westringias in the air and plant oils getting on my hands are more than enough for now.

SotE is my newly arrived full bottle of Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere. I've made quite a few little bargain purchases gearing up for warmer weather and although I did get a great deal on this, it was a big purchase so I'm thrilled to have it in my hot little hands. I am over the moon in love with this scent and while it is definitely Numero Cinq and drop dead gorgeous I find it in no way overly feminine on me in ways that say Fracas or even Bal a Versailles can sometimes feel. I think it's more unisex than No. 19 once one gets past the marketing baggage. There's too much tart lemon curd in the opening aldehydes and woody vetiver in the vanillic base for more guys not to give this a go. The trinity of ylang-ylang, jasmine, and rose are there, but not as prominent as in the edt or parfum & the aldehydes remind me most of the parfum's soft-focus glow rather than the louder edp. I can't wait to wear this all summer! Absolutely glorious.

    I offer you perfume,

The tobacco is brisk and flowered - not that round tobacco-barn hay-ey tobacco - and the leather is new too. There's a voluptuous honeyed sweetness and a hint of tea (I guess it's ackshully bergamot) Just another brilliant evocation of a familiar theme. My credit card has hidden itself somewhere in fear and trepidation.
Well I haven't actually bought any yet, but now it's back up to four. Inspired by your review I revisited Evening Edged in Gold last night, see (shakes fist back at Taolady.) I had previously decided I didn't need it because of some vague similarity I imagined it had to Cuir Cordoba, which I already have. But I honestly can't imagine what I was thinking - it's absolutely a keeper....too. And I like your take on Field Notes From Paris. I also get some tea - it reminds me of Earl Grey. That's another one, plus Chemical Bonding naturally, and Balmy Days and Sundays (fresh and grassy, soft and green - so pretty!) But I'll start with CB - maybe that'll scratch the Ineke itch enough to put off the others for a few months....right. So have you made any decisions yet? Which one will you be throwing your clams at first?

I'm in Ysatis now...rather glamorous for a night of Indian takeout and a movie with fiance, but I don't mind if he doesn't (he doesn't. )

    I'm ending my day with

    Midnight Poison
    on one arm

    and

    Obsession for Women
    on the other

... not a succes, will not do that again!

Hey Duc - Obsession is a fairly recent discovery for you, right? Have you tried the Obsession for Men yet? I mention it because it's not common for me to prefer the masculine, but in this case I really think it's slightly better...it seems smoother to me, although it might have just a touch less of the hook that makes Obsession special. I love both of them - I even wear them together every now and then. At any rate, I'd recommend it, and as far as I know it never suffered a reformulation (as I understand the women's has, but you love it so that's good news if yours is a new bottle!)
