Does Givenchy Gentleman count as an oriental? That's the only thing close to an oriental I wear frequently.

I wear orientals most of the time, and if memory serves me sharp enough, I believe it would be a rough tie between Chergui, Feminite Du Bois (Shiseido) and Ambre Sultan.

Recently, it has been less of FdB and Sultan, and quite a bit of Felanilla, L'Ombre Fauve, MKK. There is an alluring comfort that these scents induce for me. I love to wear them a couple of hours before sleeping.

The surviving constant seems to be Chergui. I feel good wearing it at home as I do heading out.

Heritage EdP and Habit Rouge EdP, followed distantly by Opium EdP. For some reason, I prefer orientals in their EdP form. I think it's because they're richer yet more subtle; sandalwood, myrrh and other spices can be a bit overpowering when in EdTs, IMO.

This one is a bit of a challenge to categorize. Maybe it's both? Pluran calls is it a "woody oriental chypre" in his BN review.

In either case, I do find myself reaching for it often.

Wouldn't say I went to it the most, but the definition of oriental to me is Opium, the women's version. I sneak a little from the bottle I bought my wife 10 years ago or so. It's quite nice. Love smelling it on her, too.

Go-to oriental from my collection: gotta say Chergui.

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

    Patou Sublime edp

Vintage Shalimar edc, L'Heure Bleue edp, Opium edt (original women's), Bal a versailles edt, Coco edp, Egoiste, Heritage edp and Habit Rouge edp (among others) all got a lot of attention this winter. Are M7 and Zino technically orientals or just woods? I'd say Baghari is an aldehydic floral-oriental. They are in there too. It's one of my favorite groupings and it was a long, cold winter here.

Wow! I'm surprised you feel that way. I must have a high sweetness tolerance, because Opium has seemed like a spicy scent since I first smelled it a year ago.
