The oriental I used most was Opium pour Homme EDT. I'm surprised younger women are so attracted to it.

Opium PH EdT (only because it's the one I have, no EdP) and TF Amber Absolute
Tom Ford Splits!!!! - Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, Oud Wood, Noir de Noir - PATCHOULI ABSOLU
Plum Japonais, Italian Cypress, Neroli Portofino, Costa Azzura, Azure Lime, Champacca Absolute

HARD TO FIND - Lavender Palm, Arabian Wood, and AMBER ABSOLUTE, etc...

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

    Patou Sublime edp

Vintage Shalimar edc, L'Heure Bleue edp, Opium edt (original women's), Bal a versailles edt, Coco edp, Egoiste, Heritage edp and Habit Rouge edp (among others) all got a lot of attention this winter. Are M7 and Zino technically orientals or just woods? I'd say Baghari is an aldehydic floral-oriental. They are in there too. It's one of my favorite groupings and it was a long, cold winter here.

Basenotes is a great place to learn about orientals because most of the guys here are tired of aquatics.

Hmm. Probably a tie between Shalimar and L'Heure Bleue in their different incarnations.

Wow! I'm surprised you feel that way. I must have a high sweetness tolerance, because Opium has seemed like a spicy scent since I first smelled it a year ago.

It's seriously a good fragance. If you love shalimar, you'll love habit rouge.

on first impression both HR and Shalimar smells somewhat like rose syrup and milk, but give it some time and the legendary vanilla base appears
