Tom Oud, on the other hand, was also sent to me and that was very good. I am now interested in the Black Oud version by Surrati, but am still hesitant because of the Oudy Woody results.

Go for Black Oud, very good (if you dont own Montale, cause is very close, no project that much nor last as long). Also isnt harsh and rancid that much as the montale.

Wore Tuscany Leather today. I liked! When i tried a sniff in the bottle, i did not liked, but wearing its different. Very great quality and rich stuff.

Very good longevity, 8+ hours (12 hours now and i can detect if i touch my nose in my wrists, but i count the first 8 hours cause still niticiable to others)

I find Oudy Woody somewhat similar to Amouage's Bahjah attar... Inferior though.

    Well...

Got my 1 tola bottle yesterday from Zahra's.

I may have gotten a bad batch, or, hell, for that matter, the wrong juice, but mine smells absolutely nothing like the real thing.

Top notes (which have been lasting for at least 4 hours) are distinctly Pine Sol with a touch of Tiger Balm astringency. It comes on very strong in the sinuses, sort of like the taste of horseradish-based wasabi, rather than the nice slow, warm, burn of real wasabi (or for that matter, real Tom Ford Oud Wood).

There is the faintest hint of the slightly-off warm wood of genuine TFOW in the drydown -- which, by the way, only barely starts to kick in about 6 hours after application. (I can still smell it on my wrist, and this is after four dish detergent scrub sessions. Good God, get it off me...)

I'm comparing them side-by-side with a spritz from a bottle at Neiman -- I had to get a new card after applying the Surrati last night and asking myself, Is my memory SO off?

Guess it's time to buy the real thing.

    So, followup.

I went and bought the genuine Private Blend Oud Wood.

There is absolutely no comparison at all. I would say that there's not even a hint of resemblance -- mostly because the Surrati is so strong on the menthol.

I couldn't agree more. I was so excited that there could be such a wallet friendly version of TFOW. I ordered the 100mg canister and filled up a small roller with the oil when I got it. At first I was really impressed; probably because it had been quite some time since I had smelled the original stuff. After wearing it a few days it really started to give me a headache and take on a more "pine-solesque" quality. I decided to go into Bloomingdale's and sample the real Oud Wood. I will say that in the dry down of the KSA Oud Wood oil there is a slight resemblance of the real stuff, but it is just NOT worth the hours and hours of pine intensity you have to endure to get there. In my case it causes a headache before I can even get to that point. Also, in the real Oud Wood there is a really nice vanilla muskiness in the dry down which is not present in the KSA oil. After getting far too many headaches I decided to give my roller of the stuff to a coworker and the rest of the canister sits amongst my various bottles and the like...unused.

With that being said I am giving them another shot as I just ordered a canister of the Tom Tuscan Leather. I can only hope this is a better interpretation on the original.

Surrati Oud wood , is horrible and synthetic, I threw my bottle out, a total waste of money!

So what were your final impressions of Tom Tuscan Leather? I was thinking of giving this a try...

Its that cheap i would. You might like it and its worth keeping instead of purchasing the real deal. Me i'm keeping mine, love it. I'd like a 10ml Decant of the real thing but that is all. Good version.

It's a MUCH better interpretation! One I actually wear! I will say that the raspberry note that's in there is pretty predominant at first, but it does calm down rather quickly making way for the leather and other notes. Much like the Surrati - Oud Wood; a little goes A LOOOOONG way! I would recommend putting on a few dabs and rubbing it in...a lot.

Interested in the Tom Tuskan Leather; anyone got any links to a 1 tola / 12ml source for the US? I'd love to try that one but I have no idea what I'd do with a huge jar of oil.

I ordered 3ml around 4 month ago. I ordered it due to the recommendations from this forum. I am absolutely stunned how close it is on my skin. Yesterday I went shopping and tried the original. I had already smelled a couple of fragrences before but neither I nor my girlfriend were able to smell a noticeable difference. The oil is also very long lasting. I usually still have the scent on 1 day after even if showered - it is far less noticeable then but I can still smell it. I am gonna order more!

One more thing. Due to it being an oil it does react different on my skin. I don`t know if all oil works this way - I don`t have to much experience - but the original vaporizer is just there when sprayed on - kind of in your face. The oil is a little more subtle - what I quite like.

Talking Re: Surrati - Tom Oud - a gorgeous oud oil from KSA

    Hi Everyone

Been browsing Basenotes almost for ever, yet today registered for 2 reasons.

    First is first,
    Got the following Surrati perfumes
    Surrati Tom Oud:
Extremely awful smell, and defiantly NOT a gorgeous.
The intial smell to me is like some milky funky musky smell that after painfully waiting and suffering for ever will turns into an acceptable minty oud.

Surrati Black Oud: Less than acceptable to me, still don't like it and neither going to recommend it. To give you a clear picture between this and Tom Oud, I'd pick this, but certainly I can't bring myself to wear this.

Surrati Black Orchids: Oh God! This is the most awful Smell I have ever encountered or smelled! At least with the above perfumes oil, I was couraged enough to apply them, but no matter what, I can't let myself open the cap and apply this to my skin!

Now to give you a clear indication to my preference. I really enjoy Sospiro Accento and Polo Blue. Yet, I can't stand 1 Million by Paco Rabanne, it's basically unbearable to me!

Moral story, don't buy something blindly even if the whole world recommends it.

There is one more thing, if you really despise someone and want him/her to suffer or even if you tried Surrati perfumes and you like it. Consider yourself lucky!

I'm offering the forth mentioned perfumes at great bargain.

    • Surrati Tom Oudh (100g)- P:04/11/15 - Used less than 3ml (experimented and mixed samples with alcohol and other oil in order to fix it, needles to say I'm getting ride of it)
    • Surrati Black Orchid (100g) - P:07/11/15 - Didn't use it!
    • Surrati Black Oud (100g) - P:08/11/15 - Used One time (less than 0.5 ml just to smell it)

My offer including the shipping is $100 for the whole 3 Surrati 100g canisters shipped to you.

I realize, I'm new here so I'll go one step further. If you are an Old Active member here, I'll be happy to ship you the perfumes and when it arrives to you then pay me.

Yes, I really didn't like them this much... :P

Surrati - Tom Oud smells disgusting tons of very synthetic white musk.
not even close to TF oud wood
    1977 - Snuff by Schiaparelli
2007 - Oud Wood Tom Ford
    1976 - Yatagan Caron
    1981 - Kouros YSL
    1980 - Patou Pour Homme
1987 - Lapidus by Ted Lapidus
    1966 - Aramis by Aramis
    1980 - Jules Christian Dior
2013 - Sahara Noir Tom Ford
    1975 - Bourjois Masculin 2

Currently I'm locate in UAE, near the boarder (considered as remote area here). I requested a favor from one of my friends to get me couple of perfumes from the only store of Surrati here. So these are Surrati's 100% (when I get back home, I'll post a picture).

I'm trying to get ride for all of these together. I'll be holding for a week or so, if no one decided to take these I'll be hearing your offer, and whatever remains will be mixed with rose and I'll burn them as an incense.

100% agree! Totally disgusting specifically if you know the real smell of pure oud and musk.
I can't talk about the originals of these as I haven't smelled them. The only Tom Ford's I tired were Tuscan Leather, Tobacco Vanille and Italian Cypress which sets my hope so high after reading people's opinion on Surrati duplicates. Needless to say, these sinks so low to a bottom that I didn't know it was even possible!

    Edit:
I decided to remove the "pro tip", I had given earlier.

Actually, I smelled Tom Ford Black Orchid today from the bottle itself, but I didn't spray it. So, I'll be speaking from this perspective.
Definitely not a scent I like, and turned out Surrati version smells close to the original. I might not be able to tell you, how it's going to get developed on you. What I smelled is almost 95% the same scent, to compare between the original and the copy I'd say Tom Ford Black Orchid is like a thine doted line, while Surrati Black Orchid is an extremely BOLD connected line and for sure needs to be extremely diluted.

I'm surprised that someone (Tom Ford) made an unbearable perfume with muddy chocolate vanilla characteristics, and someone else (Surrati) was keen to copy it!
