Smile Vintage Penhaligon's exract of limes, need replacement

    Hi all,

through sheer luck i was able to get my hands on some vintage extract of limes from penhaligon. I compared it to the anthology release and well....IMHO the reformulation is a mere shadow of the original. The lack of basenotes is one obvious omission. I find that the vintage formulation is warm, creamy, and adds so much to the mix that the anthology's nearly exclusive emphasis on the limes makes the latter pale in comparison, both in terms of opening and dry down.
I just love the combination of warmth and limes that i haven't found in any other cologne up to date.

It is however hard if not impossible to find these old vintage bottles so im looking for a substitute. any idea's?

I'm a big lover of citrus frags so the usual suspects like ADP in all its varieties are covered but 'found wanting' in this respect. I'm basically looking for a vintage EOL clone.

    all ideas highly appreciated!!

I take a bottle of wine and I go drink it among the flowers.
We are always three ... counting my shadow and my friend the shimmering moon
Happily the moon knows nothing of drinking, and my shadow is never thirsty
When I sing, the moon listens to me in silence. When I dance, my shadow dances too.
After all festivities the guests must depart. This sadness I do not know.
When I go home, the moon goes with me and my shadow follows me

maybe some more info needed, there is a sunny, almost syrup-like sweetness that gives the vintage version the body the reformulation seems to lack.
    all help very welcome

There really isn't much of a difference between the vintage and the new. The old didn't have any basenotes either.

I've smelled both, I don't really notice a significant difference either.

    very strange,
I have them on me right now, left arm-right arm and the difference is incredibly clear: vintage= warm, fragrant, almost pot pouri-ish base that carries the lime. reformulated= fresh almost acidic lemony, very focused, but without the warm base that to me at least signifies the original.
I would buy the vintage without blinking, the reformulated however is to my nose rather plain in comparisson

It is possible that the vintage has just aged well I suppose. Some fragrances do get "deeper" the more they age if they are stored right.
