BMM10 The Road To The Final Spritz Fragrant Four Game 2 Recap
Welcome back to the Osborne Olfactory Arena in Basenotes City, Iím your host Somerville Metro Man on The Road To The Final Spritz. Only three teams left and two games to determine scented superiority in 2010. We know one of the contestants in The Final Srptiz will be Tauer Perfumes LíAir du Desert Marocain who won the first game of The Fragrant Four. Now it was time for Serge Lutens Chergui and Guerlain Vetiver to take the floor in the O-rena and see who would win the right to play LíAir du Desert Marocain in the last game of this yearís tournament.
The Mean Green of Guerlain Vetiver have to feel that it is a Guerlain right to have a bottle in the Final Spritz and after placing three of the Fragrant Four in 2009 Guerlain Vetiver was the lone Guerlain in the Fragrant Four this year. Vetiver was also the only #1 seed to make it to the Fragrant Four, as well. They didnít have an easy road of it as they had to come out of the toughest region in this yearís tournament and they faced 2009ís runner-up, Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan, in the regional final. That was a two-point victory for The Mean Green and it seemed to take a lot out of them. Their opponent has had a much different path to this game.
Serge Lutens Chergui has dominated from the opening spritz of this tournament they have not had a bottle stay any closer than 18 points as they stormed their way to this Fragrant Four. The twenty-three point victory over Boucheron Jaipur Homme in the Essential Eight put them in the Fragrant Four with an exclamation point, thatís if Dzing! is willing to give theirs up. In many ways Chergui has always felt like the overshadowed bottle in the Serge Lutens stable of bottles. That they get to try and do what Ambre Sultan was unable to do last year clearly gives Chergui an extra dose of determination for themselves and their House.
That determination was on display right from the beginning of this match. While Vetiver was walking all around the boutique and raising their atomizers to get the Mean Green fans pumped up. Chergui stood at center boutique quiet, composed and clearly not intimidated. Once the action began you could see that, as Chergui went on a 10-3 run to start the game. The Mean Green looked stunned to be down so quickly and they tried to rally but as has happened in every other game in the tournament involving Chergui once they get you down they do not let you back into the game. By halftime the lead had grown to twenty-two, 40-18. Vetiver looked to be happy to get off the floor and Cherguiís temperament looked unchanged from the beginning. You got the feeling they knew they were the better bottle. As the second half got under way Vetiver seemed to be better equipped to handle all that Chergui was throwing at them but a twenty-two point deficit is just too much to make up. When all was said and done, The Mean Green had gone Mellow Yellow absorbing a 57-31 shellacking by Chergui.
This leads to a very interesting Final Spritz between Chergui and LíAir du Desert Marocain. Neither bottle has had an opponent keep the score under double digits although Chergui has had the more impressive margins overall. This last game should be interesting to see if it is close as neither of these bottles has found anyone in this tournament who can share the floor with them. Will The Final Spritz prove to be that game for both of them?
Remember to keep voting and watching as only you have the ability to determine the winner.
I'll see you back here in two days as we crown the 2010 Champion on The Road to The Final Spritz.
