on first sniff?
1. Roger & Gallet Extra Vieille
How can something nearly as cheap as 4711 be this insanely good?
much richer than the "orange/lime/juniper(gin)/pine/sharp-rose" that i was expecting,
and worlds better than I expected, I couldn't stop smelling my wrist for the first few weeks.
3. Prelude to Love by Kilian
I forget what particular post or note list made me want to test this one,
as I initially wrote off the entire Kilian line prior to testing them just from the cost and comments of how sweet they were. the whole line dissapointed except P2L, it absolutely floored me at first sniff, waay better than expected.
4. L'Occitane Eav Des Bavx
I loved the topnotes when i first tested it, a very dry spiced incense/woods accord with just the right amount of sweetness below it. then it completely surprised me later in the day when it was way too fkn sweet, fortuneately they either took some of the sweetness down or i just lucked out on the bottle I own now.
5. Bogart pour homme
given how cheap this was, and that for months i assumed it was some sort of gimmick frag with a photo of humphrey bogart on the box, i had long ignored the posters who recommended it, unti lit got cold this winter, and I was searching for the perfect pipe tobacco to balance Tom Ford TV which was too sweet. Dmitrios posted that this is the cherry pipe tobacco scent, and I remember liking those pouches of cherry tobacco and their maraschino aroma. I first applied this, and was put off by it's rather unimpressive topnotes....then an hour later it was the best contemporary powerhouse with just the right hint of joopness. very nice surprise for a steal of a price.
