Had our own Palooza of sorts -- you know, what was available -- TJMaxx, Macy's, a few boutiques, came with a box of Italian soaps :-) and was seduced by a crushed velvet pouch of John Varvatos EdP in that fancy shade of bleached maroon -- fresh terracotta.

Guerlain Rose Barbare for a case of Monday-itis.

Back from the retreat (and yes! It was wonderful. All the rain we've been having plus the coolish spring brought everything to full flower and the Abbey grounds are a wash of pinks and reds and creamy whites against a backdrop of ancient oaks hung with Spanish moss.) to find a bag of goodies from dear Bloomy!

Bvlgari Blv. Corporate, with a twist! I love the way the top notes pop in and out all day, all professional. Then, come 5'oclock, it dries down all soft and warm for hometime.

I'm honored to be scent-twins with Leesee today, in my left-over (and still perfect!) Aromatics Elixir - I literally showered in it (then slathered and sprayed) so it's on for a while!

today i am in Ted Baker's Second Scent. Bought it on a whim at the Ted Baker store in Las Vegas one year. It is a bit heady and I may have over applied.

    Notes from Fragrantica:
Secondscent by Ted Baker is a oriental floral fragrance for women. The nose behind this fragrance is Sophie Labbe. Top notes are hawthorn, lily-of-the-valley and anise; middle notes are jasmine, heliotrope and tiare flower; base notes are sandalwood, musk and vanilla.

It's a bit fumey and heady. It's very sweet too, with monstrous sillage.
Beauty is but the sensible image of the Infinite.

    Hi, Everyone!

Back from Sniffapalooza and still reeling (from both olfactory and positive emotional overload) so I am bare naked today! Will likely be in something orange-y later, as neroli kept (unexpectedly!) floating my boat this weekend (Eau de Tarocco! Le Labo Tuberose! Guerlain eau de Cologne!) - But what did I *buy* this weekend? Krieger Cognac EDP... Can't quite seem to wrap my nose around summer yet.

I hope Taolady had a relaxing time on her retreat. We're back from a week on Hatteras Island, NC. That was a very relaxing week as well. Mike, your favorite comfort scent, Shalimar edc, is also one of mine. I was thinking about wearing it this morning, but I reached for Annick Goutal's Gardenia Passion instead.

    I hope everyone is well.

Thanks to our lovely, generous Chaya, who I, along with a couple of other wonderful perfume friends had the great pleasure of meeting for dinner last night in NYC, I am wearing Rochas Byzance. She just up and handed me a big ol' bottle, as if being with her isn't gift enough!!

Byzance is beautifully rich and perfumey, in the style of those big '80s era frags -- but complex, not loud or fussy. It opens with a touch of spice and lots of aldehydes, which on me smell like incense. (It's similar to the incensy impression I get from the aldehydes in #22.) Florals develop next, tuberose most prominent. As the frag dries down my skin is pulling a lot of musk and sandalwood from the basenotes.

top: green notes, mandarin, aldehyde, fruit note, basil
heart: lily of the valley, jasmine, tuberose, rose, orris, anise, ylang ylang
base: musk, heliotrope, vanilla, amber, sandalwood, cedar

    Best to all!

SotD is Dior Poison... I haven't worn this frag in over twenty years!!! But you know what? I still LOVE it now as much as I did then. Funny thing is though, I don't remember it being distinctly grape-ish. Fruity and spicy yes, but this has definitely essence of grape for a moment there. I used to be a smoker back then, so perhaps my nose was off and I could not smell it properly?

Glad you're home safe Tao and that you like the Shanti Shanti, I find it very calming and centering.

    Happy Monday everyone!

    SOTD: Calandre

This green floral is over-the-top marvelous...did I read (here?) that PR has been bought by a bigger company (and that there are murmurs of this lovely fragrance being discontinued or - worse - reformulated)?

So Mysticknot - what do you think of the Chanel? I kinda have to be in the right mood to wear it. Sometimes it comes across very LOUD.

    Hugs all!

SotD is my "custom layering" of Robert Piguet Bandit EDP and Bvlgari Black EDT... it is a LOVELY combination and I got "wow, that is very pleasant!" (when asked about the sillage... "oh, medium. But it smells so nice!") Felt like it smelled EXACTLY like our morning, which was green, a little humid, fresh and warm at the same time.
