Default What 'Dry' scents have you bought?

Every now and then I crave a 'dry' scent; from my wardrobe Oud Wood fits the bill. Now i"m wondering what others have bought to fill their 'raspy, woody' cravings.
    Thanks!

Djedi, if you can get it. Dry-as-a-bone-on-a-Nevada-desert. The Perfumed Court has affordable decants.

Interesting. I suspect we'll have some differing notions of what is 'dry'. My most dessicated faves are:

    Parfum Sacre
    Jubilation XXV
    Tribute
    Vetiver Extraordinaire
    French Lover

This is an intriguing thread. For the life of me, I cannot translate 'dry' into a scent! I guess I find the orris note 'dry', as in sort of stripped back and pared down. But then, I feel I also find Cabochard to be 'dry'.

Interesting question. In all honesty, I have these fragrances only in decants, with one exception (Calandre).

Féminité du Bois strikes me as very dry, as does Bois de Violette.

Calandre is a dry aldehyde, IMO.

Chanel's Bel Respiro strikes me as a dry green.

And Chanel No 18 is also very dry, very raspy. Almost parched.

    Great thread, BayKAT.
The thing that popped to mind was Eternity (but then I was just typing about Iso E Super in another thread, so … ?).
Really look forward to following the posts here.

(Hi, Adonna! Not stalking you, really!)

I think Le Labo Oud 21 is very dry. But Andy Tauer's Desert Morocain is bone, bone dry.

    1. Lonestar Memories (Tauer), smells like suffocation in dry sand

    2. L'Air du Desert Marocain (Tauer) and Onda (Vero Profumo), very close relatives to my nose

I"m nodding my head at a lot of these-
Hillaire, yep, yep to all! (is your Tribute mention from the sample I sent you?)
a big Yep to L' Derriere du Morrocain (i suppose I don't sound like a fan of that one...)
Vetiver is popping up a lot, which isn't surprising.

Oud, rosewood, cedar, vetiver... sometimes these really hit the spot!

    Hi AltoDiva!
I need to try Le Labo 21.... (27 Sounds amazing too)
As for all things A. Tauer.... I destroy it! Wow, bad on me.

Interesting how different people experience "dry"...
The Tauers don't seem at all dry to me -- on my skin the amber and vanilla are strong, and so don't seem dry.
My driest scent is Le Labo's Patchouli 24, which is more birch tar than patchouli. Dry as a stick. I swear it sucks moisture out of my skin!
Others that seem dry to me are Moschino by Moschino, Luciano Soprani by Luciano Soprani, Dune and Kyoto.

Spices read as dry to me, I guess, especially if the perfume doesn't have an "oily" quality to offset them -- so, Estee Lauder's Spellbound is super-dry.

Late to the party but wearing Sycomore today. It definitely smells dry. Dry smoke and dry vetiver.

Annick Goutal's Encens Flamboyant is dry incense. It's pure campfire, basically.

Also Borneo 1834 strikes me as very dry. Dark cocoa powder, dust, patchouli, earth.

Bois Blond is relatively dry; lots of cedar. Pencils and hay.

Interesting, C. Rose! That you mentioned the brilliant Luciano Soprani Original! Indeed it's dry as a bone! Like Cabochard (not that reformulated swill), a little. Such a great scent.

Dry as in non-sweet? Very few, and I seem to be getting rid of the ones I own that are dry as best I can. I like dry in theory and appreciate dry contrast given to sweet elements, but past a certain point a dry fragrance will simply be neglected in my wardrobe no matter how much I appreciate it. What can I say? I need a little sugar.

I suppose Oud Cuir The Arabie is the driest of those I plan to keep, but even there there's a hint of sweetly floral rose.

Dry versus wet is something I have a harder time understanding. Anything not green, marine, or ozonic is by default "dry" to my nose in that sense.

Interesting! For me, Goutal's Vetiver reads dense and moist, almost slimy like sea plants. I love it!

Fragrances that I'd call dry (not wet): TDC Sel de Vetiver, Lutens Borneo 1834 and Gris Clair, Rosine Ecume de Rose, Micallef White Sea, Guerlain Terracotta Voile d'Ete. Kind of a rare quality, isn't it?!

My contributions are Ralph Lauren Safari (very dry and green, like the yellowed grasslands of Africa that its name evokes), Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan (dried herbs, patchouli, and dry incense), Serge Lutens Encens et Lavande (very bone dry incense, like the dust in a 500 year old church), Ava Lux Soie/Silk (really does remind me of raw silk, not very floral; dry, warm, nubby yet soft), and Eau d' Italie Paestum Rose (oud, black pepper, dry incense and dry rose).

I'm again enjoying how subjective fragrance can be. I find the cola note in Noir Epices to be a bit sweet. To me, it's cola syrup with cloves. I should probably find my sample and give it another go sometime.
Eddie: Sweetie, what are you drinking?
Patsy: Oh, this? Chanel No. 5.
