    Default The Essential EOs

    Howdy!

I've looked all over the internet, and have looked at every thread in the 3 pages of this particular forum, and haven't been able to find a list of the most common essential oils and essences used in fragrances- the ones that will get me the farthest at least. I saw one thread similar, but the party involved had $500 to work with, and the list was fairly expansive.

I've checked out a few stores, and after smell tests, my current collection is: Tunisian Amber, Lily (I think), Egyptian Musk, Oriental Musk, Tunisian Opium, Tunisian Patchouli, Grapefruit, Cedar (I'll need to experiment with diluting this particular one) and Bergamont. If I was to buy another 10, what would yall recommend?

    Thanks for your time.

I am afraid those are not all essential oils but fragrance oils. Patchouli is not from tunesia, but there are EO's from patchouli. The grapefruit probably is an essential oil, just like the cedar. The bergamot oil might be an essential oil. The others are clearly not an essential oil.

In case you only want to have essential oils, these are more common essential oils:
    - Orange
    - Lemon
    - Anise
    - Clove leaf
    - Citronella
    - Eucalyptus globulus
    - Lavender
    - Lime
    - Peppermint
    - Cornmint
    - Geranium
    - Palmarosa

Ah- my mistake. I'm down for any oil, essential or otherwise.

Thanks for the list and clarification.

In that case simply choose the oils you like from those available to you.

Hgalek, if you've not already done so, take a look at my thread below, as I am selling all my oils, absolutes and essences.

    i agree with janmeut.

however, my list would be something like this: rose, lavender, vanilla, jasmine, lily of the valley, violet, neroli, sandalwood, oakmoss, coumarin/tonka, incense. (not counting musk, bergamot and amber/labdanum since you've already got these) and maybe some spices, too.
with this selection you can try to create very simple compositions in citrus, floral, oriental, woody, fougere or mixtures of these.
