    Hey,
I ordered some Envy off of eBay, and it came in like two pieces of
foam and a lpastic cover, so I was suspicious. Hopwever, I used a
    :Cue
CAT, this thing that scans barcodes into your computer and takes you
to a corresponding website (you can get one free www.cuecat.com), and
it took me to a Fragrange manufacturer site that listed envy as one
    of
    its fragrances.

my other question: i have NOT had a positive response to Envy. I wore
it one day to school and no one liked it, some1 even said it smelled
like "old lady's perfume." However i think it smells great. I do
realize its definately mroe for evening and formal occasions but i
    was
kind of dissapointed! DOes anyone else have any experiance w/ gucci
    envy?

also what is your experiance with ordering fragrances off of eBay?

I've bought other merchandise on ebay and so far it's been as
advertised. Most sellers would not want to risk bad feedback.
Personally, however, I prefer ordering fragrances from reputable
on-line businesses. Try MySimon fragrance search. You enter the
product your looking for and several businesses advertise their
    price.
I usually get a great deal.

As for Envy, I've heard that it's a great all around oriental woody
type fragrance. Gucci has a reputable track record and I doubt this
is an exception. Keep wearing it proudly. I've read negative
    feedback
on the likes of Polo sport, Eternity and even Cool Water. I was
appalled, but there will always be naysayers.

    Hey there!

I was using Gucci Envy for almost 3 years(eversince it was launched)
but have since swapped over to Habit Rouge(Guerlain).
Through the years of wearing it, I've had mostly positive
responses(mainly from younger women) and also seem to be popular
amoung the women behind the counter. What drew me to Gucci Envy was
the fact that my ex-girlfriend wears Gucci Envy(ladies counterpart)
and she was the one who bought me my very first bottle. Call me sappy
but I have since switched fragrances after our bust-up and would
probably never go back to it.
However, I really think Tom Ford had a vision of what he was trying to
create(sex and more sex..) and he has really hit the mark with this
wonderful spicy oriental scent. It's a pity that his follow-up to
Rush for men, pales significantly when compared to Envy.
The last thing I have to say is to wear what you like and don't worry
about what others think. You can't please everybody as we all have
different tastes. That is precisely why the fragrance industry is such
    a booming business.

    Regards

I hate it when that happens. I'm put off of What About Adam by Joop
now, since I split up with my ex-fiancee last year.

I think its a bizarre smell, and to be completely honest I think it's a
    bit of let down.

Thanks for your views Andres, and thanks for joining the Basenotes

    A bit of a let down??@!!?
    I was CRUSHED!!
After the mega success of Gucci Envy for men and women as a result of
wise marketing strategies and a great ad campaign, I wondered if his
next fragrance would live up to the mark.
It did. Gucci Rush for women is perhaps THE SEXIEST fragrance on the
market, right down to it's advert which depicts what appears to be a
women who is in the very last throes of orgasm.
Naturally, I was eagarly awaiting the release of Rush for men by Tom
Ford, hoping his creative genius would come up with something just as
    impressive.
To me, the fragrance is a tad weak for starters. I had to spary the
tester till the liquid was running half way down my arm before I was
able to detect it's mild scent.
Secondly, there is way too much wood in the scent. If I wanted to
smell like that all day, I would quit my day job and go work in a
    timber mill.
Third, the fragrance lasted about half a day on the spray-card and
only a couple of hours on my arm(which by then had fed on almost half
    a bottle of the stuff).
In all, a let down as you say. Maybe Tom Ford went a little overboard
with trying to create a product that is different and unique.
Sometimes it works, but there are times when it just fails miserably.

    Regards

    Andrew

    I was CRUSHED!
Okay, to be totally honest, it is one of the worst recent fragrances I have
smelt in a long time, (including Davidoff Goodlife). I didn't want to be too
harsh about it though, as it may put someone off that really would like it
    (There *MUST* be someone!)

That's funny! Can I quote this on the site, with the Gucci Rush review?

I hate that too!!!! There is something unwholesome
about the smell. Kinda like the original Hugo Boss
that I call Hugo Eau de Toilet...coz it just smells
like the boys urinal in highschool.

Go for it. I just hope it doesn't offend anyone who

I agree...eau d issey 'stinks' (and so does the
original 'Boss'...I tried to wear it and 'yechh' (it
does have a urine smell). It's funny though, it seems
like the colognes you dislike the most are the
'hardest' to wash off and the ones that you really
like seem to fade quickly. That's why I 'NEVER' spray
a tester on my skin...it might smell good at the
bottle, but if you spray it on and decide it's not for
you, you'll be scrubbing trying to get the smell off
of you. 'Goodlife' smell good on others but not me...
I'm very disappointed with the 'Gucci' fragrances. The
    original 'Pour Homme' smelled 'rich..oriental,
citrus...' 'Nobile' is 'okay' ...'Envy' and 'Rush'
smell like several other colognes that cannot be
distinguished from each other, so save your money
(after all, you 'do' pay for the 'Gucci' name)

Yeah I was really drawn to Envy (to coin a phrase) when I saw that ad
with that guy banding that REALLY hot chick. if buying bottles fo
that sutff and pouring it over myself could getme in bed with women
like that I'd be running to Hechts right now. :-) Unfortunetaley,
most of the reaction I've gotten from it is negative, I'm hoping
thats cuz it was during the daytime @ school (The one occasion when I
wore it at night, a 60-ish female friend of mind complimented me on
it, though, but she usually says she likes what I'm wearing so I
don't know if she was just being nice :-))

Your friends are right...Gucci 'Envy' stinks. I know
why they didn't like it. It is breathtaking, it makes
you gasp for air. It is 'stifle-ing' (cough, choke)...
Try 'Chrome' by Azzarro or 'Curve' by Claiborne...or
