Default Rocabar - My new personal discovery

We were in DC recently on vacation and I was shopping Bloomingdales. As I walked past the Hermes counter I noticed Rocabar. I almost ignored it, knowing it was an older fragrance, but decided to give it a try. Glad I did.

The fragrance feels very classic and mature, while the berry/fruity notes keep it contemporary. The drydown is slightly pedestrian, but overall the fragrance is very enjoyable and easy to wear.

I think it's going to be a great summer fragrance.

Thanks for sharing, tabbakh. I happen to agree and I also think Rocabar deserves better press than what its been getting..

Going to have to give it a serious try now. Never really worked for me on scent strips. I get the idea it's something that has to develop on your skin before you really "get it." Am I right about that?

I think it's more understandable than most Hermes offerings. I actually said "oh wow" after I sprayed it on the tester paper. It was that nice.

The coniferous opening is wonderful. Nice spice too. The base has some sweetness but not gourmand/dessert type. For me I like to wear it in cooler temperatures.

And I have to ask this question: that name, Rocabar. . . is it one of the all-time great names for fragrance?

If it isn't now, it will be someday.

Rocabar is a wonderful spicy/coniferous scent and one of my second favourite Hermes after Bel Ami.
ointments and perfume delight the heart....
