Only that it is now absolutely my favourite work from the Malle line - it's a period piece, a memory that defies logic. Beautiful.

It's my favorite Malle definitely. I hate to say it, but this was slightly reformulated years ago, too. I found out when I had used up my 50 ml and moved on to the 100 ml back-up. The latter has a light orange color, whereas the newer is colorless pale. The difference must be the cassie and mimosa absolutes etc. used. The original version is more daring and animalic, dirty and maintains this aura right through the end, whereas the newer has that slightly 'sterile' feel in the base I had complained about earlier on in this thread. I thought I was a bit hypersensitive to think it was a reformulation, but I found an online reference stating the same.

Love Une Fleur de Cassie! I think it is the only Malle I could spend money on without much guilt . There is no perfume quite like it I agree.

Slightly, Mims! My guess is that it had more cassie/mimosa absolutes, which must be absolutely funky stuff by itself!

edit: Oh didn't read the thread, someone had already made the connection....

Anyone thinks this smells similar to Cuir de Russie? I've only got a tiny sample of CdR but from the whiff I get it seems to have this similarly hard to describe ..... decadent(?) astrigent(?) "sweaty butt-cheeks [as someone wrote about UFdC]", well in short something almost coarse due its depth but still flowery etc.

My favourite all-time frag. overall by a long shot.

I don't think it smells similar, but I do think it evokes similar feelings and sensations, if that makes sense. At least as the current Cuir de Russie, the vintage stuff is far more animalic and leatheer/bitter-like.

I have the old one I believe.

But yes that was sorta what I meant, more a feeling or sensation... The contrast between lighter notes and something much more deep etc, in both of them (but I only took a whiff of Cuir de Russie).
