    I'm not going anywhere this morning, so I can experiment;

On my left arm I have
On my right arm I have
    vintage POISON, simply
    DIOR COLOGNE BLANCHE
    because it's so damn divine!
because I need to get use to it!

I am working late today, so time for a self-indulgent browse on Basenotes
now that the family have gone to work and the breakfast is done with.
I have a tiny bit of Aomassai left from a sample and will use that up I
think. Wish I could afford a full bottle!

By the way Twolf, you were right in what you said about the grammar rules
yesterday! My son is 21 and he still insists on saying "brought " when he means "bought."
Brought is the past tense of bring and bought the past tense of of buy, if you see what I mean!!
Some of the football commentators over here have a bad habit of saying "he played great" instead of "well,"
or even "the boy done good." No wonder our kids have poor grammar!!

The volcanic cloud shifted long enough for my samples of Andy Tauer's fragrances to arrive yesterday and Vero Kern's today!

Yesterday I was completely blown away by a desert wind , and today I am trying Rubj.

Am I nuts that I am getting a Giorgio vibe from Rubj???

I'm wearing CoCo Chanel perfume today.

It's so hot in here. No, really! It feels like mid-summer and the air condition in my office is not working, so yeah, Coco is too much in this weather!
This morning while I was desperately moving every single decimeter on the way to work in rush hour, my perfume flourished amongst of all the smoke from the vehicles on the street and dust and heat and everything... Enough said!
Though at the moment it's already dried down (for so long now!) and stays quiet, yes I do love it, I still think it's a mistake to choose it today.

Somebody wanna send me some breeze, pls? )

Bulgari Black - loving the leather/rubber/vanilla vibe. I feel like one of the Hairy Bakers - in a good way. http://www.hairybikers.com/
(It's a TV cookery show fronted by two very sweet hairy bikers. Their Victoria Sponge recipe sounds great - cinnamon buttercream - Mmmmm!)

Yesterday I tried SJP's Twilight - I've been reading Chandler Burr's book "A Perfect Scent", which was written before she came up with Covet or the Dawn/Endless/Twilight trio or her latest (allegedly ghastly) offering. Having read of Sarah Jessica's desire to release something edgier and dirtier than my adored Lovely, I had high hopes for Twilight. It looks like it's being discontinued, so is getting a bit trickier to find, but I spotted a bottle in Superdrug yesterday and cadged a spritz. First impressions were not favourable - it was very Meh and I was disappointed. Then it disappeared completely, leaving me saddened because I like SJP - she seems very genuine and my adoration of Lovely is well-documented.

An hour later, it was back and wowser was it mucky! I'm going to buy a bottle to layer because it's the most fantastic dirty musk with a dab of patchouli and maybe some other woods and spices. I think SJP may have managed to get close to her infamous 'personal blend' with this one. (She wears Bonne Bell musk, Egyptian Musk oil and CdG Avignon, which sounds fantastic.) I can see it with any incense layered over it - I'm thinking Black Cashmere, actually. And I've just started wondering what it would be like with a floral - a ladylike Iris or a romantic Rose... Hmm.

    Have a good day all.
    Hugs

Smelled my sleeve this morning and brain analyzed scent: “That’s Macchia Mediterranea.” [Insert sound of vinyl record screech as needle rips across it.] Wha? I didn’t wear MM yesterday. I wore modern edp Mitsouko! Sniff—check. Sniff—check. Sniff—check. Somebody needs to come over to my house . R I G H T . N O W ! Or, run a comparison of MM and M where you are. I’m going to be putting some on paper and cotton to suss this out. I don't think the match is as close on skin (or on my hide anyway). Maybe this explains why I suddenly started relating to MM again.

On day three of my staycation, I have layered Histoire de Parfum's 1969 over Sephora's Guava Passion body butter for a visit to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom! I so remember spring 1969: demonstrations, political strategizing, college finals, with a little LSD mixed in.

Mokhallet Al Rehab attar, which has a wonderfully synthetic metallic oudy start, before tempering out to a slightly rosey ambery musk. Al Rehab can be hit and miss in their pocket money price oils, but I find this an unusual and wearable hot weather scent.

It's pouring rain and I'm puttering around at home today. My Sotd is Wisteria edt by Elariia, a Marshall's bargain. It's very nice, and I get acacia in it after the initial wisteria impression wear off. The wisteria here is in bloom everywhere. It must be invasive because I see huge masses of it in the wooded places along the roads and highways. It's beautiful and ladylike and lightly fragrant in the cultivated places where it's forced to grow decorously, but it has a more malevolent aspect in the wild, almost like kudzu.

Quarry - I hope DH gets better soon- how uncomfortable !
Lilybelle- lovely pic- I love wisteria and the Elariia Wisteria sounds delightful !

Scent of the morning WAS supposed to be CdG LUXE Patchouli from a sample- I had wash it off. Thankfully it was a small swipe on my skin but this stuff blooms no matter how little you put on.
I am not really a fan of Patchouli and this sticks like glue. I am sure it would smell good on a man though- it's more masculine and VERY patchouli ,amber and woods but mostly Patchouli . Patchouli lovers will rejoice in this .

Have a good day everyone !

So now scent of the morning is Fracas EDP - what a relief !

Elariia Wisteria is one for Hillaire's Unsung Treasures thread. I don't know whether it's a treasure, but it's very pleasant. Mysticknot, patchouli on my skin is not always my friend either, although I love the scent of it. I recommend that you try Keiko Mecheri's Patchoulissime, which is a pretty patchouli fragrance. For me, "pretty patchouli" was an oxymoron until I tried that one. I never would have tried it but a Basenoter sent me a sample and I fell in love with it.

Thanks Lilybelle - I will have to try it out. The other wisteria I loved was Wisteria by Crabtree and Evelyn . It's beautiful but after a while in evolves into tuberose and smells somewhat like Fracas . ( I love Fracas but I guess I expect Wisteria to smell like wisteria - though I am still unsure exactly what wisteria actually smells like . )
Wisteria reminds me of London and how some townhouses in London are covered in wisteria come summertime- they really are beautiful flowers - they remind me of grapes too - I don't know why ! I never did stop to smell the flowers either and I don't know why too - too busy ,always rushing ...............

Lavanila Vanilla Blossom, from a random sample I've had lying around. The first time I tried it I couldn't stand it -- SO MUCH VANILLA, I'm not a cupcake -- but today I'm kind of liking it. There's something leafy in there tempering the vanilla.

I remember C&E's Wisteria fragrance. I never owned it but used to take a spritz whenever I saw a tester somewhere. It was irresistible, esp. because of the packaging. I will miss Crabtree & Evelyn. Wisteria (the growing kind) has a faint, sweet, almost fruity scent. It smells like it looks.

    Hey y'all!

I'm so excited!! I'm wearing a gorgeous new-to-me fragrance, thanks to a recommendation from an_oud_girl! It's Roberto Cavalli's Oro, and it's incredible! It's very well-blended and I can't pick out any of the individual floral notes...maybe some iris....but I'm enjoying just basking in it too much to care to analyze it. This is a case in which the notes in question sold me, and they absolutely live up to my opinion of them in this beautiful fragrance! I'm so glad I kept up with Hillaire's Unsung Treasures thread - there are lots of great recs there so be sure to check it out!

Oro was created by Maurice Roucel (love him!) in 2004, and the notes include iris, magnolia, cinnamon, apricot, blond honey, indian sandalwood, and amber.

Thanks again aogirl - I'm over the moon!

    Good afternoon!

    Everyone is smelling lovely today!

I started out with Niki de Saint Phalle today and, quite frankly, was intimidated by bitter and sour notes for the first two hours! Now she's nice and comforting, but still, she is not me. But it's my own fault, or should I say a trick of the changing coastal weather? The day started out cold and rainy, and now it's bright and sunny. I think I'll come back to her in the fall! She has nerves like ropes and a backbone made of steel... and that's just not me. Especially, not in the Spring.

Y'all have a great day! Can't wait to see your SOtEs!

Ha! In my enthusiasm I steamrolled right over your sotd, Gary - I bet your Bond No. 9 is adding an incredible element to the Oro sillage!

Love the pic, Lilybelle, and can't wait for the riot of wisteria in Cambridge to bloom -- this city is laden with it.

Wore a couple of dabs of Que Sais Je? in my cleavage today. Enjoying the fruity whiff some 12 hours later.

I've just popped in to say "Hi" -- -- I'm in Panama City Beach and our UHaul is almost totally loaded up with Mom's stuff, with plans to drive north tomorrow. It's been a no-scent week for me-- very busy. I'm looking forward to being home in a few days.

    SoTD: Chanel No. 19 ...

Mostly, anyway. I've been prepping sample decants for folks and can't help myself...

(with a drop here and there from decanting Sycomore, Mademoiselle, Mirto de Panarea and... tiny traces of scrubbed-off Habit Rouge that wasn't working for me this morning, and a little bit of vintage Yatagan, Carven's Vetiver, and an even tinier trace of Hermes Equipage.)

Stay safe 30 Roses ! *hugs*

This afternoon , I am wearing Green Oakmoss by Liz Zorn of Soivohle. This is a mixed blend of naturals and synthetics. My word- it is a lovely green chypre. Mossy by name ,mossy by nature. I wonder if there is any oakmoss in this but it sure is yummy .
