    Default YATAGAN Summer Substitute

This winter I found Yatagan and took to it instantly. Just great, great stuff. Makes me feel happy.

Anyway, it gets very hot here in the Summer. And I'm not sure if Yatagan will be too much at 100+ temps.

Anyone know of a summer or light frag that closely resembles Yatagan?

    Or a passable substitute?

    Thanks.

Thumbs up Re: YATAGAN Summer Substitute

I use to wear YATAGAN in summer....it works, but you can try

I think Azzaro PH might suit you for summer. It's dry, herbal and butch with a faintly coastal undertone, thanks to the dry ambergris base. I don't find it to be cloying at all, even in the heat. Though Azzaro is relatively subtle (at least, the new formula is), it shares Yatagan's take-no-prisoners attitude, IMO.

Mazzolari's Mazzolari draws comparisons to Yatagan, but is greener and drier in my opinion. (See the reviews in the directory for this one).

I think it would be easier to wear in the summer (relatively).

    It is pricey though.

If you are looking for the huge celery and spicy notes in Yatagan, you may try Grain de Plaisir by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier.

Try Aramis New West. When I smelled it on a card, it really reminded me of Yatagan. Another member said the same thing a while back, and attributed it to the pine in them.

I find Yatagan to be incredibly versatile weather wise. Love wearing it in winter and summer.

    +1 on the Kouros Fraicheur

The original Kouros is also a very good summer fragrance. The smell of Kouros and Yatagan may be different but i really think they have the same attitude.

Try Sud Est by Romeo Gigli, I actually prefer it to Yatagan.

Wow. Thanks for the suggestions. It's also good to hear that Yatagan performs well in the summer.

    Keep the suggestions coming!

    Thanks.

Check marks to Sud Est and Grain de Plaisir.

If you can find L'Occitane en Provence, 4 Voleurs, give that a try. Pine & herbal in a nice mix.
For a very summery green scent with herbal notes, try Sisley's Eau de Campagne.

It seems to me that Yatagan would do well in summer as well. (I'm going to find out! ... on my femme skin.)

I just got a vintage Yatagan today, and the juice seems a bit less harsh than the new stuff... either through age or a slight reformulation I don't know.

I agree that Yatagan works well year round, and the comments about New West make me excited that I just ordered a bottle blind. I'd also add Aramis Devin to the list of considerations for a Yatagan lover's summer wear.

I would hate to see what the person looks like who wears "Yatagan Sport." Probably tennis shoes and a cowboy hat.

Well... Rodeo is considered a "sport"... so spurs, chaps, cowboy gear... wouldn't surprise me at all if they wore Yatagan Sport LOL.

(honestly the real Yatagan reminds me of the area where I grew up (deserty parts of Colorado) and of my dad, although his favorite "scent" is Lucky Tiger Rose!)

But... what would be the addition/subtraction to make it "Sport?" Hmm. ... I know! Ozone!
