Grand Duc - I can't help it, I have to make my standard joke about your fragrance today:
"Have you smelled Paris Hilton's Can Can?"
"Darling, smelled it? Half the world has SEEN it!"
Sorry - I'm rude, I know! But honestly, for a while you couldn't open a magazine without seeing her getting out of a car in such a short skirt it put her fundament on display

Today I am in Molinard's Fleurs de Figuier. Fresh, bright and hmm, a tad too figgy for a chilly spring day. I chose poorly this morning - while not dreadful, this is not quite right. I wonder if I could overspray with something warmer and richer? Perhaps Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac. Woods and figs should work well together, shouldn't they? Ach, what's the worst that can happen? It's only perfume!

SMM - Congrats and welcome to the Lovely Patchouli fan club. (Therese and I are co-chairs. ) I bought a bottle in February and tore through it in record time, less than two weeks. I couldn't get enough of it.

Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Rouge. It was hard to pick something today but I'm glad I finally settled on this one - soft, mildly sweet and nutty, and totally easy to wear.

    Take care, everyone!

I'm wearing one of my recently received samples - Deep Red (Hugo Boss). I don't have to work until early this evening. Will most likely shoehorn in another fragrance beforehand. They like to encourage a fragrance-free workplace. Boo!

Today I am wearing the perfume that most reminds me of London - Vol de Nuit extrait. Takes me right back to my favorite bench in Green Park - the one that faces the path leading to Buckingham Palace with the avenue of tall trees. It's the perfect spot .

Whitelace, I think perfume is what about what makes you happy, not about what impresses others. Rock your frags!

Which Britney frag did Chandler Burr rave about in the NYT? I know there was one.

I'm in Chanel No. 5 EDT. I got it as a gift ages and ages ago -- I don't even remember who from -- and I never really wore it much. OMG, so gorgeous! Airy sparkles, peachy woods, and occasional big whiffs of something amazingly skanky. In fact, now that I think about it, the skank note might be what put me off when I tried it back in the day. At the time, I liked perfume oils with names like "rain" and "sweet rain" and "ocean rain," I don't think I liked things with an actual smell ...

I'm wearing Chanel No. 5 today. There have been so many times that I've overlooked this fragrance when choosing my SOTD and sometimes I'll go months without wearing this, but eventually, I come back to No. 5 and wonder why I neglected it. It is so warm, inviting, comforting, beautiful and just darn exquisite! I love No. 5!!!

So in a search for something summery and happy I put L'Occitane Miel & Citron Pailette Shimmering with a couple of spritzes of African Honeysuckle by Dawn Spenser Hurwitz in my hair. I'll try to ride the golden hues of Summer warmth this long day at the university...

Good luck to everybody in Great Britain on the election! I’m going to go turn on C-Span and see if they’re reporting on it.

I love that Havana ad, Petruccijc. Mike Perez and SMM - This is me when you fellas wear patchouli anything…

Thalia, what a great pic that one is, too. Everybody is so sexay today!

I’m wearing Jessica McClintock edp. Top notes are cassia, basil, ylang-ylang, bergamot, black currant and lemon; middle notes are jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and rose; base notes are musk and woodsy notes. Hmm…I’m picking up big gardenia - mushroom note and all - in this. Maybe it’s just my sniffer. I’m not complaining.

Keiko Mercheri Myrrhe & Merveilles. I may have over applied this morning - found my partner chewing on the air in the living room :/

notes: myrrh crystals, mandarin, jasmine, white almond, balsamic notes, white musk

Myrhh is an odd note. She's like Frankincense's bookish sister; she often tags along when you invite the outgoing Frankie to a party. When she's centre stage you really have to 'get' her to appreciate her dry, bitter humour.

Again, the house style, ultra clean and tailored. When the myrrh and almond get to play, it's lovely, but there's too much white musk for me to really take to this.
Out here we are running for the wide open spaces, the road-smell after the rain.

    Today I'm wearing...

    Knize Ten
    by Knize

    Top Notes
    Bergamot, Lemon, Orange, Petitgrain, Rosemary

    Middle Notes
Geranium, Cedarwood, Rose, Orris, Carnation, Cinnamon, Sandalwood

    Base Notes
Leather, Musk, Moss, Amber, Castoreum and Vanilla

From a sample I received from the lovely Leesee, it reminds me of a much softer, much less floral Jolie Madame; especially in the drydown.

Have a wonderful remainder of the day everyone!

Wow! Quite a coincidence! This morning I pulled out my oldest bottle, a large, half-used up CHANEL 5 edt, and made it my SOTD, for the first time in a zillion years. (and I think this one deserves a full day all its own...) I've had this bottle since the 80s--don't remember how I got it, or recall ever using it, though apparently I did --but here it is... and it's lovely!

    M. Le Duc et al,
Rock on with your "Can Can" self! It's a great lesson to not be ashamed of whatever scent you like. If you like it, wear it! It's not like you have Ms Hilton's name tatooed on your forehead. A possible thread there, if it hasn't been done before???? " Frags I'm ashamed to admit I like"
    Everyone smells terrific this Thursday!
Well, I'm still in Phoenix AZ where it is hot temp- wise and I keep finding samples tucked away. Today I'm wearing Gucci Accenti EDT. I tried this several months ago in the cool coastal air of California and though it was quite ordinary- But in the heat it blooms and become a richy and spice laden concoction- I'm really enjoying it.

Good morning, dear, witty BNers! You smell lovely!

    SOTD: Juicy Couture

I started with the shower gel, which I love (does not make me itchy, leaves a little scent, etc.). It's too bad it comes in the most idiotic packaging. Otherwise, I'd buy gallons of this stuff. For my SOTD, I decided to dab on a spot from my mini (parfum).. the first touch didn't get anything so I shook it a bit more and SPLASH! Whoops. So even though I rinsed most of it, I am surrounded by a pink cloud of JC. Happily, my little girl seems to adore this fragrance on me. (Believe me, she tells me when she does not!)

Blast of fruit (ARGH!) on the first splash, but it disappeared rather quickly and now just a "happy" tuberose-y floral with a hint of green.

I will be sad when I finish this bottle, as my replacement bottle is the new Diorella. The new is very nice, but not great.

Very hot this afternoon, and I'm wearing Balenciaga Paris edp. You need to give this some time. On a card it completely unimpressed me but...... on skin........ after it dried down...... OMG! What a beauty!

    Hello,

    I am wearing Mariella Burani.

    Notes from Fragrantica:

    Top: tarragon, bergamot, brazilian rosewood and lemon;
    Middle: iris, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley and rose;
Base: amber, sandalwood, tonka bean, patchouli, musk, benzoin, vanilla and vetiver.

Not a good choice though, for this warm evening. I should wear something less sweet and cooler.

LOL whitelace- you go girl! I'll see you over there
Duc- Ain't Black orchid just fab? I believe you would also like the Black Orchid Voile de Fleur
Dora- I just bought Mariella Burani based on Hillaire's "unsung treasures" thread and I love it.

I'm way too hot , so switched to something lighter Cabotine Rose

    Great news!
My husband is coming home "for a few days"! I haven't seen him since early March. (He's been working overseas since last June.) I'm so happy!

SOTE...to celebrate, Chanel Coco edt that he gave me for Christmas.

    I couldn't tell, mystic! LOL.

I was wearing a layering of Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta and AdP Blu Mediterraneo Cipresso di Toscana this morning, and this afternoon I'm wearing Guerlain Cologne du 68 (what a novel item that is, with 68 notes... wonder if anyone has documented at what exact moment<s> those notes emerge on their skin? I'm not going to try.) this afternoon.

Side note: I've been testing (and reviewing if you can call what I do reviews!) the Xerjoff samples and need to get to them again as I have promised to send them onward, but I really want to have the time to sample EVERY SINGLE ONE of the remaining 10 (!!!)... I promise I'll send them on though (waves at cello, their next recipient), they are too lovely and varied a bunch to NOT share. I believe LUA and ESQUEL are the next two on my radar... my sense of smell is getting a definite workout with these, and loving every scented moment of it!

    Good day all

Best of luck my darlings across the pond with the election results.

RHM, I am so pleased for you and Sofie, to have hubby home for a short while...have a smashing weekend.

Dora- I forgot just how lovely the Mariela Burani bottle was, it always made me smile. Hope things will be better in your corner of the world soon.

Today my SotD was La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain and all I can say is "Meh". I am still smelling it and all it smells like is one of those "Designer Impostor" versions of Eau de Charlotte. Which is so sad when one smells the mastery apparent in the classic Guerlains. LPRN smells as if it were created around the ingredients found in a confiserie, and not a top notch one like Laduree either.

In that vein, I shall make Eau de Charlotte by Annick Goutal my SotE. Now this is how it should be done...just a touch of heaven.

    Hugs all, and smooches also!!!
