Morning all! I'm feeling rather tropical in Virgin Island Water. I could almost drink the lime in this.

Guerlain's Vetiver 1996 EdT for me today. Never fails to put me in a "young-in-Paris" mood. But most interesting part is maybe that it was the last drops of a bottle. What a rare experience to finish a bottle! Always a bit sad...
This is a huge, complex, floral, aldehydic perfume created by Jean-Claude Ellena in 1976,
before he pared down his creations to a more minimalist style. He uses hedione in First, which makes
the notes luminescent and sparkling, like a jewel from Van Cleef and Arpels store. I find it very French and

Will go and work in an oldie but goldie, Privilege EdT from Parfums Privilege kindly shared with me by a nice BNer. Fruity green, demure and business-like floral, not the monstrous type.
My SOTD is Miller Harris Cuir d'Oranger.
Notes include orange oil from Valencia, pettigrain from Paraguay and shimmering orange flowers from Tunisia, fused with Egyptian jasmin and orris absolute resting on a rich base of leather with birch tar, Spanish ciste, oak moss and patchouli.

It's the first day of a warming trend here, so it's time to get out and work on the roses.
So I need to wear a scent to discourage the bees, Lorenzo Viloresi' Patchouli will be perfect.
RHM's Vintage, Rare & Pretty Darn Good items on offer: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/380...old-Pour-Femme
My ex-boss gave me a big fistful of them sort of in lieu of back pay and they are ablaze in my living room! Oh joy! They are available here only for a week or two.
Burying my nose in them reminds me that - as much as I love lots of my peony frags - none yet really captures the real thing (for me).
HOWEVER I'm gonna give them all a shot today - starting I think with L'Occitane's exuberant take...

Chanel Cristalle Eau Verte
Auric Blends Egyptian Goddess. I really should wear this one more often, it's so gentle and pretty. And for around six dollars, it's real bang for the buck: I wore some to bed last night and could still smell it this morning. Extra special bonus: My husband says I smell "delicious" in it. Exact quote.
Take care, all!

Coty Muguet des Bois parfum today!
And I'll be taking Mom shopping for yarn. She decided not to give up knitting and crocheting after all. I'm glad to see her starting to recover from her upheaval and loss.
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Good morning, Basenotes!
Ivoire de Balmain for me today.
Oh, gosh, Tao -- aren't those peonies just GORGEOUS!!! And in season, too. Possibly my favourite of all flowers!
Well, things are happy here in Soir-land. Thanks no doubt in part to all of your good wishes and vibes last week, I GOT THE JOB!!! I am, naturally, thrilled, though will have to get my head around working just that little bit harder now.
Further, I discovered today that Nuits de Scherrer *is in fact* the re-named Nuits Indiennes that I loved so very much all those years ago. Thanks to a discounter site, I have today enjoyed the shower gel, body lotion and EdT -- layered loveliness! I wore this scent in the mid-90s and am so happy to have found it again -- a soft oriental, no less. Quite unusual, for me!

Ah, one of my favs today to quinch a craving - SL Douce Amere.
Congratulations soirdelune nice to have one of the good smelling ones get the win.
I'm frantically trying to figure out how not to talk too much on Saturday. Those of you who know me know how difficult that is for me.
Maybe a Prozac with my OJ in the morning will help.
For today I am wearing another new acquisition from Sniffapalooza
Acqua di Parma Blu Mediteraneo Bergamotto di Calabria
This really struck me as a nice warm-weather fragrance when I tried it and of many of the things I sniffed at Sniffapalooza the one I kept coming back to.
Have a Titanic Thursday everyone.

Taolady, what breathtaking peonies!
Sending hugs to 30 Roses and Mom. It will be an adjustment for her, but knitting/crocheting is soothing. And you get to make something useful (or not).
Woohoo, SoirdeLune! I knew you’d get it! Congratulations!
I’m trying out my new Grès Cabaret today. What took me so long? I love its delicacy and restraint. It’s truly lovely.
Have a good day, all.
Big congratulations to soirdelune.
tdem: I am so intrigued by your description of Egyptian Goddess. And you know where intrigue may lead a perfumista!
I am wearing Divine's L'Infante.
L'Artisan L'Eau de Jatamansi.

Good Morning All!
SOTD is Paco Rabanne's Ultraviolet.
Bravo to 30Roses & Mom on getting back to yarnwork... Wish I were more skilled with such dextrous stuff, so am in awe of you both already! A dear friend who's also a knitter recently made a truly spectacular *mobius strip scarf* with a combination of multicolored alpaca yarn interspersed with gossamer and jewel toned ribbon yarn. Just gorgeous! Have fun, you two, as you continue to find your emotional balance...
WAY TO GO ON THE JOB, SOIR!!!! Woo-hoo! Go get 'em, girlfriend. And you smell darn good, too.
Speaking of smelling good, today I'm all elegant osmanthus, rose and woodlands in Jean Patou 1000.
1000 notes include: Chinese osmanthus and Bulgarian rose, jasmine from Grasse, sandalwood, patchouli, violet, and May rose.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... Rive Gauche pour homme
Congratulations soirdelune!!! (happy dance!)
30 Roses, thinking of your mom... feel glad she's taking an interest in knitting again, that sounds like a positive step!
Sommerville Metro Man, wish I could be there to hear you talk too much!
Meanwhile, I'm bringing out the big guns (good longevity and one of my very favorites): Malle's Iris Poudre, for my day in traffic court... (as jury member, not defendant!) Hope I'm not stuck there ALL day... :-(
Soirdelune- hearty congrats ! Well done ! Wishing you all the best with your new job.
Primrose - get better soon !
Carnal Flower ...oh my love !
( Scent of the day ! )
For sale. Carnal Flower and Vero Profumo Onda.
Chanel Bois des Îles. The smell of all being right with the World.
Tao what gorgeous peonies, your peony sniffin' marathon sounds delightful!
C Rose, hope you get outta your jury duty quickly, at least you'll be smelling FINE.
SotMorning for me is Lili Bermuda Oleander EDT. It is a beautiful frag.
From the Bermuda perfumery website: Elegant and feminine floriental bouquet of muguet, Bermuda Oleander, white orris, pink water lily and hibiscus intertwine with undertone of silkmusk, a hint of vanilla flower.
Its going to be windy and nasty here today in the southwest desert, so I'll go native with DIOR DUNE, I feel thirsty already......
I'm sailing off to work in Van Cleef & Arpels Bois d'Iris, thanks to a sample shared by MysticKnot. Now I see what so many of you have raved about. What a beauty!!!
Congratulations, Soirdelune, and best wishes with your new position!
Taolady, let's make April 30 Peony Day. Enjoy your flowers!
Lilybelle, I'm glad you ended up liking Cabaret. I just love that one, too!

SotE: Guerlain's warm Héritage EdP. I noticed something slightly funny today: I have two tester bottles of it, both with batch codes from the 1992-1999 era, but the "Dominant notes" description on them are not the same - one says "woody-spicy, lavender, coriander, patchouli", the other says "woody, hesperides, pepper, tonka bean". I have often noticed this variation in description on Guerlain testers. Seems like Guerlain can't decide what is really dominant? But oh, I love it, whatever it is!
Giving a shout-out to my SUNS today in my purple Alien!
I'll be repainting my nails orange today, totally fanning it up for the sixth (and... hopefully... FINAL!) game of the quarterfinals tonight.

C Rose, that is going to be the world's best-smelling jury box.
I'm in a sample of Serge Lutens Datura Noir, which smells slightly narcotic and poisonous. I love it! I should never have ordered so many expensive niche samples, because there's no way I'm going to pony up for a full bottle of them and I might have been happier in blissful ignorance.
Tubereuse Criminelle by Serge Lutens (from a sample - thanks NeoTY26)
Just love the gasoline / floral accords this one pumps out. Fun!
Congrats, Soirdelune!!! Oh, 30 Roses, I am glad your mother is doing well! I wore AL Black Coconut layered over BK Liaisons Dangereuses to bed last night and the overall effect was quite nice. The resulting combination put me in the mood for AL Viva, so that will be my scent today. Have a lovely Thursday and take care, all.
Quick post today:
Wearing another great sample from Kumquat: Lubin Nuit de Longchamps (Vintage). Wow, how the heck did I miss this? It inspired me to order from TPC a large decant of the reissued. What a great floral chypre! Another to love....

The gorgeous Chanel 31 Rue Cambon today.
I'm wearing VW Boudoir today. This is one I find not very work appropriate so I save it for a day off, like today.
Tao, I LOVE the peonies in the cobalt blue pitcher! It's still a little early for the peony blooms here, but the lilacs are on their final days. I have a cobalt blue vase filled with lilacs in our entry way right now ... so pretty and so fragrant!
Sending congratulations to soirdelune on the new job!
Hello dear BNers - Hope your day is going well.
Add my congratulatory hug to soirdelune !
SOTD: Rykiel Woman
Notes from the Rei Rien website (one of my favorite places to shop!): "Top notes are pink pepper, violet and dates; middle notes are jasmine, rose, pepper and sunflower; base notes are leather, amber and musk."
When I first read the notes (before I tried it), I thought that the pink pepper would just kill it for me. Probably, I foolishly thought, yet another messy fruity thing. How wrong could I be? Think "cuddly Oriental" - i.e., a well-blended floral, amber-y, slightly sweet concoction. Smells like a hug feels.
What's up with the bottle, though?
Have a great day, all!
spring! spring! Spring!

A, quales ego mane rosas procedere vidi!

SotAfternoon is Dior Homme...what a masterpiece! I love the bottle, I love the way it sprays. I love every single note. I love the progression all the way to the last fading note.
Ô de Lancôme, for me today.
Bulgari Rose Essentielle for me this evening. More roses.
I am wearing the fragranct essence of the goddess Mitsouko.
For the rest of the day, Laguna, which is drying down an awful lot like Venezia! Who'd have guessed?
Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely Twilight - this is very powdery and musky on me; much nicer than a the label 'celebrity flanker' might suggest. It's very easy to wear and I like how it has a very gentle yet comforting vibe.

- Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose
- Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille
http://www.nstperfume.com/2008/09/25...ew-fragrances/ I got it from LuckyScent. Sadly, it appears they no longer carry it. I wonder what is up with that?
SoTD: Chanel No. 19. This evening I received the bottle of JPG Classique from Lilybelle and of course, immediately spritzed! Not bad. (I think several days of testing scents "out of my usual range" have opened me up to some new.) Will probably not continue the Xerjoff test tonight as the wind is really strong here and now my head is full of dust bunnies... sigh. I so love the Spring, except for that allergy stuff that is. But tomorrow...
Oh... and CONGRATULATIONS soirdelune!
