Thread: TODAY I BOUGHT: May 2010
Davidoff - Good Life & Paul Sebastian - Casual
Both blind and should arrive soon. I have high hopes for The Good Life and I hope Casual is not blehhhh (it sounds like it will be either really nice or blehhhh).
Wrong thread, apologies.

Got myself 4 partly used etros.
Blind buys, mind you, except the sandalo, but for 12 bucks each, what the heck...

Snarky is as snarky does.
Did a fleamarket on the way home from the nightshift,
and look and behold, I struck gold again (none are testers);
100ml No. 5, EdP, NEW. I hoped to find this baby, what's the odds for actually finding it?!
125ml Dior Homme Cologne, approx. 35ml left.
7ml Amarige de Givenchy, pure parfum, approx. 6ml left.
And a big ass bottle - 1000ml? - of Sergio Tacchini Uomo, EdT. I reckon most is water, it is quite faint.

Giorgio for Men (50 ml); my first impression is that I like it very much!
I love cologne.
Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur - finally arrived in HK
Lutens L'Eau - if this is an olfactory reset button then that suits me just fine. Fantastic now the heat has arrived.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian APOM pour femme. It's Mother's Day - for my ex-wife. The nice lady at Joyce gave me sample atomisers of the whole Kurkdjian line
For a split, a 100ml bottle of
Surrati Oudh oil aka Tom Ford Oud Wood
+1 on Lutens L'Eau - VERY light, very airy. It will work well for spring and layering too
AOS Sandalwood - a staple and a target for modifying with aged sandalwood oil
AOS Lemon - bright, really bright
A decant of Heely's Cedre Blanc - not gonna work, No way no how. It's like a veggie bomb. Yuk
Quiksilver EDT Gift Set
A set of real steals at Marshall's. The Izod was $12.95, the Quiksilver gift set was $19.95, and the Tea Rose was $9.99.
My wife likes the Tea Rose, but personally I'm not a fan. Interesting, and smells like a real rose, but it's just not exciting me.
Izod is a known love-at-first-sniff in Macy's, but I waited for it to go on special. That review where Luca Turin talked about falling in love with a particular dollar bill? Yeah. That's this fragrance. It's simply an exceptional member of a crowded genre.
Quiksilver is interesting before you get it out of the box. Literally, the escaping odor from the bottle is fascinating. I'm looking forward to wearing and reviewing this one very soon. This was a blind buy, using only BN reviews to guide me.
For me: Tom Ford Azure Lime
My Wife: Tom Ford Champaca Absolute
Silver Mountain Water candle by Creed
Spent about an hour at one of those fragrance kiosks in the middle of the mall aisle...it was so disorganized it had piles of fragrances on top of other piles. Incredibly hard to find anything.
Finally, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a vintage bottle of...
Bal a Versailles (vintage Eau de Cologne) by Jean Desprez
Got it for cheap and couldn't be happier.
just scored Bergamotto Marino by Gianfranco Ferre 90% full for 10 bucks!
Tell Hugo, he isnt boss anymore.

50 ml Bottle of En Passant
I'm not your toy.
A gift set of vintage Vetiver (EdT) by Guerlain and a travel size of Vetiver shower gel
Sonia Rykiel Man. Blind buy.
Tom Ford Extreme
Polo Double Black - Great for us wearers of the original in it's day.
Givenchy Play - It's just like Pi but in a horrible bottle. Awesome scent though!
Went to the Frederic Malle store for the second time and again had a very hard time there (spent a lot of time, but worth it - superb staff, service)...
well, there is no excuse, I know - I left with a bottle of Une Fleur de Cassie and Noir Epices, although I had planned to get a go with the 3 x 10 ml travel set (three different frags). I eventually dropped Musc Ravageur as being a bit generic (knowing and loving so many ambers) and too much vanilla (and too little beastly musk on the other hand) on me. I think it is indeed a very nice one to start your collection with, but in mine it is not unique enough to justify yet another bottle, I think. Not finished with this line yet....
Today was a huge day for me. Well yesterday I bought a 3.4 oz Atman (Phat Farm) and got Carlos Santana 3.4 oz in the mail.
Today I bought a 2 pack on .5 oz from Banderas - Spirit and Blue Seduction. I also bought a 3.4 oz Curve Soul, and 1.6 oz Giorgio. I also ordered Cuba Black, Cafe de Cafe, Rykiel Man, and Samba Kiss Me (all blind buys) we'll see how they turn out.. I've got some extra money to blow.
Today I bought Vintage Diorella.
Rochas - LUI
Davidoff - Cool Water Frozen
Aramis - Bermuda Tonic
Vetiver shower gel (vintage formula) by Guerlain
I got a mini bottle of this, and I used it up fairly quickly because it smells so wonderful in the shower. Now, I have another mini tube and a regular size tube also. It compliments the EdT just perfectly and is great for those evenings (or times after the gym) when I don't want to wear something heavy, but I want to be softly fragranced.
I have no idea how this compares to the 'new' shower gel, but I would like to imagine that the one I have is a bit more complex.
I'm a couple days late posting this, but I made my first online fragrance buy. I purchased Mountain Water by Swiss Army from fragrancenet.com. It was a blind buy--you can't get this cologne in Canada.
Waiting for it to arrive is very exciting. I think I just got myself addicted to ordering cologne online.
I did it again; went amok with my mothers creditcard!
Miss Dior Chérie, 7,5ml pure parfum
Hot Couture de Givenchy, 50ml EdP
Eau de Star, 50ml Eau de Toilette
And since I'm (somewhat of) a man;
Dior Homme Intense, 100ml backup btl of EdP

I have never tried Zirh Ikon but I have heard of the cinnamon it boasts so while at Marshal's I found two sealed boxes of Zirh Ikon in the 3.4oz size for $7.95 each. At that price I snapped both of them up. Interesting how the cap is held in place by a mangnet. Anyway I am in the process of testing it. Initial response is "not bad".
Bois Blond - Parfumerie Generale
All five of the Les Heures de Parfum de Cartier from Saks in NY
Did yet another fleamarket today, got some modern pieces;
125ml Le Mâle Cologne Tonique pour le Corps, approx. 100ml left
125ml Le Mâle Cologne Tonique Summer, approx. 95ml left
120ml Gaultier2, EdP, approx. 45ml left
100ml Gucci Pour Homme II, EdT, TESTER, approx. 65ml left
50ml Clinique Happy, parfum spray, approx. 10ml left
50ml Sun Moon Stars, EdT, approx. 65ml left
- SEE SAME THREAD IN THE FEMALE SECTION FOR MY UNBELIEVABLE VINTAGE CATCH -
Ineke Field Notes From Paris. I had been thinking about buying this one for a while and the recent thread here made me dig out the sample and give it a test again and make my decision.

Picked up a VINTAGE bottle of MPG's Fraiche Badiane. Really excited about it. I've just begun my exploration into the MPG line. So far, I've acquired Santal Noble, Parfum d'Habit, Centaure, and Fraiche Badiane. I recently read someone's post where they stated once they found MPG they felt like their "quest was over." I can kind of relate.
Gucci pour Homme (2003) from a fellow Basenoter

There are three kinds of people in this world: those who understand math and those who don't (four out of three people surveyed agree with this).

A generous decant. This mothball citrus has me intrigued. In a retro, sort of way.
