No, not sleeping in. Dare I say, on the opposite -- can't get any? But thanks for asking.

Still in and have applied more of Jardin Prive.

My adorable massage therapist gave me a BAG of samples from Zents http://www.zents.com/edt_fresh.shtml and for an indifferent morning I'm going for the

    SUN....

...."This sensuous scent has top notes of Sweet Orange and Grapefruit. At its heart is Vanilla, Sandalwood and Heliotrope, giving the fragrance feminine sophistication. The Vanilla is symbolic of Cord's
(co-founder of Zents) mother's warm heart, while the Sandalwood represents her angelic soul."

Despite the perfervid copy it's quite comfy and wearable. The sandalwood/vanilla prevails with the heliotrope peeking through nicely....oddly, the citrus shows u p last. But that happens a LOT on me.

Attrape Couer today, but I sampled Jean Patou Sublime and am newly enamored. I can see this as a wardrobe staple alongside Chanel no. 19 when I want something a bit softer.
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." "On a hot summer night, will you give you throat to the wolf with the Red Roses (by Jo Malone)?" Was listening to too many Meatloaf love songs, obviosly, this morning. Verdict about my SotD: "I want you, I need you, but there ain't no way I am ever gonna love you" (Meatloaf again).

Candy Perfume Boy -- Libertine? -- welcome to your new identity.

Had to edit, as the words quoted were NOT "ain't no way", and without them the piece loses all the charm!

I'm sampling L'Artisan's Cote D'Amour today. This is rather challenging, because I've not smelled some of these notes before. The fragrance is quite easy and breezy, but not like anything I have smelled before. Nice for a sunny morning where eventually I will get out in the yard. Unfortunately, not with an ocean view

Thank you. I chose the name Libertine when I first joined because I loved the Vivienne Westwood fragrance. Since then I've tried and loved so many other perfumes I felt I needed a change, I'm now named after Madonna song.

Oh and Kudos to the Meatloaf love. I love that song!!

What a lovely and sunny afternoon it turned out to be!

Thank you all for the well wishes, hunks, cakes, kittens, bubbly and flowers for my birthday, which indeed needs to be celebrated for at least four days.

As I'm away for a dirty weekend with my husband in a "good perfume city" (as opposed to my home town which has nothing to offer), I left the hotel room UNSCENTED. This has never happened before, but I was on a sampling quest. I ended up with Prada Eau L'Ambrée on one arm, Prada Infusion de Tubereuse and Juliette has a Gun Miss Charming on the other. The latter is the one that stands out, it absolutely gorgeous on my skin. I'm disappointed in the Tubereuse, and I've tried the Eau L'Ambrée before, but it's very fleeting on my skin. Both Eau L'Ambrée and Miss Charming are full bottle worthy.

A gentle but assertive aldehyde that welcomes spring.
A crisp blue sky and a bright breeze cheers me.

Top notes include galbanum ("green" notes), bergamot,
    aldehydes, and gardenia.
    Middle notes include jasmine,
carnation, rose, lily of the valley, and orris.
The base notes include amber, patchouli, oakmoss,

No sleeping in for me today! Actually got out of bed earlier than my week work days to try and beat the promised heat, but it was too humid and still to start... so after some tidying up in the house and liberal application of Ma Griffe, thinking, layering with Turbulences, and brewing up my first weekend latte, I went into the garden smelling terrific!... I think the rather handsome fat toad in the tomato plants appreciated my scent, as he (or she) hung around for a while before deciding it might be more prudent to hop it! (lol... toad attractor!)

Now after a couple hours of gardening I smell like the garden, the dregs of the MG & T, and found a parcel on my front porch containing Vent Vert... so I'm in a blue-green fog of flowerdy earthy air right now!

Oh... and I noticed in the topnotes a particular GREEN accord that The Perfumer's Apprentice sells as "Cologne Accord" described as "a very modern accord" - now I can't say I LOVE this accord, but it's very obvious in VV.

...and Just FYI (grins) the composition is as follows...

    (copied from TPA)

    "Decenal-4-trans @10% - 5
    Florhydral - 10
    Thibetolide (Exaltolide) - 10
    Ultrazur - 15
    Peonile - 60
    Petitgrain essential oil - 70
    Ethylene Brassylate - 90
    Aurantiol - 100
    Geranyl Acetate - 120
    Linalyl Acetate - 220
    Dihydro Myrcenol - 300

Ultrazur gives freshness and modernizes this classic cologne accord
    Decenal-4-trans adds an orange effect
    Florhydral gives fresh green volume
Peonile provides rosy body and tenacity"

    Hello everyone!

I'm in a very beautiful and elegant floral chypre from 1984, Aubusson's Histoire d'Amour. I don't wear this often, but when I do I'm quick to remember why I love it. It is smooth and green and luxurious, with an unforgettable floral accord (I see dusky slate blue and mossy green floral chintz when I smell this!) It reminds me very much of Flora Danica, another lush floral chypre from that era. And Safari, now that I think about it (and something else in the drydown that I can't put my finger on...Infini??) however, for anyone interested in this genre, they are absolutely singular enough to warrant having a bottle of each.

Top notes - mandarin orange, osmanthus, basil and bergamot
Middle notes - orange blossom, galbanum, jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose and narcissus
Base notes - patchouli, oakmoss and musk

    Y'all have a wonderful day!

I got another sample of Black Gardenia- I am getting a bit addicted to the opening of this scent. In your face sweeeeeet candy gardenia.Who knew ???!! It's a little bit goth and dark which is good and I like it as a kind of' Fracas Gardenia'.
So this afternoon / evening it's Black Gardenia layered with Carnal Flower. Layers beautifully with EL Tuberose Gardenia too BTW.

I've showered off the Histoire d'Amour and I'm now in a soft cloud of Chamade, vintage extrait topped by a spritz of vintage edc....this is hard to beat for sheer beauty and elegance, perfect for an evening out with Mr. Fiance! ♥

I've finished the gardening (my sis and brother in law helped, and BiL helped immensely by servicing my air conditioner and actually getting the electrostatic air filter in operating condition!)... and am going to shower off the dirt and grime, then finish off the evening by testing the two final vials of Xerjoffs I have: Shingl and Dhajala... then pack the whole lot up for sending off to cello! (and the thought of sending off those lovely samples both gives me joy as they will be appreciated again (and maybe a fourth time) ... and makes me whimper a little at the thought of not having them at hand for when the Xerjoff mood strikes me!

And to Evangeline... Woohoo! Have a lovely evening out!

I spent another long day at the hospital, but this is the first night this week I've been home before 10:00 or 11:00. I'm wearing Fire Island today.

Kumquat, thanks for posting that picture ... I have a hard time picking out a favorite Monet, but that one comes very close to the top of the list.

Sorry for any birthdays or other celebrations I have missed this week ...

This morning (extremely hot, running around with my in-laws playing Tour Guide) was:

    Vetiver Extreme by Guerlain

Tonight, I think it's going to be something super comfy (I need a foot rub...), so maybe it'll be...

My scent of the day was Sonia Kashuk #1 gardenia edt (I think Target discontinued it) it's a very fresh gardinia scent ,smells to me like a much pricier EL private collection Tuberose-Gardinia (at least ELPCTG 's topnotes) nice to wear on a warm humid day.

Hey, all! I put on some Rive Gauche about 7 hours ago and it is still wafting gently around me as I type this.

I helped out with a benefit performance tonight and as I sat in the audience during the show I kept smelling a carnation-esque scent drifting past me. It did not smell of Bellodgia or other carnation-heavy scents with which I am familiar, and it was so linear that I kept thinking it might be a body spray of some sort. Is anyone familiar with a carnation-based scent that would be considered more "mainstream," etc? Just wondering. . . .
