Maître Parfumeur & Gantier
Top Notes: Blackcurrant Buds, Bergamot, Petitgrain
Middle Notes: Leather, Geranium, Patchouli, Incense
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Ambergris, Vanilla
Initially, a very strange note resembling some kind of sharp-smelling forest damp, but then, it evens out into a kind of a leather scent with an oriental base. This has quite a bit of sillage, and works best in cooler weather on my skin. It can be quite elegant for evening wear (as in black tie), or simply for informal social events. The blackcurrant bud note stays with the fragrance most of the way through the drydown, giving it a uniqueness and a touch of cachet.

Sample day it is (both for the second time)...
left wrist: Myrrhe Ardente - Annick Goutal // I love myrrh, but do you have to present with so little charm in a perfume?
right wrist: Eau des Iles - MPG // What a cocktail! Something is still going wrong for my nose (anise-like together with ylang ylang?). Smells very outdated to me, but I can see its distinctiveness.

Tom Ford Oud Wood.
Orange Blossom Cologne by Jo Malone (from a sample)
I love the top notes, they remind me a bit of that new Aqua Allegoria Flora Nymphea...all green leaves and orange blossoms. But I think today I figured out why I am not falling in love with this one, it's the water lily note in the dry down. I really have an aversion to that note. I remember a water lily candle that I had in my house, that when it was lit it made my stomach turn. Blech. So, I think I might have to stop trying to like this one, and move on.

Giving L' air du desert Marocain a wearing in thiis warm muggy weather. Sort of a "test run" to see how it works with a rather minimum application in these weather conditions!! So far, excellently well.
