    Default True Force by Avon

From the AVON site: 'Experience the thrill of nature's true force. Each invigorating note explores the craving for free-spirit adventure and exciting discoveries. Go for it! A fresh rush of sage and lavender leads to a rugged finish of raw suede and warm oakwood. 2.5 fl. oz. '

Retails for $17.50 on the website.

Maybe it's my inner Star-Wars-geek, but I really want this bottle!

Mike, go for it! At this price, it is not a great gamble.

I like the notes, too: lavender and sage with suede...

May the force be with you, though I'm sure the lavender will !

And Aromatic Fougere, seems interesting. And at that price... I would test it though.

I like the bottle design - it wouldn't look out of place next to the more Art Deco Xeryus bottle, and the notes listed. The biggest risk at that price would be finding out that it's better than other EdTs that retail for a whole lot more.

The problem I've found with these kinds of frags is that they often have a "synthetic" quality, just enough to be irritating. And of course they are often derivative or "common." For instance, if this were a "niche" frag with lavender, sage, and suede, I would not only expect it not to have a "synthetic" quality, but I'd also want these notes to be featured prominently, and in this case, I would expect it to be quite dry and textural. Instead, my guess is that some softening and sweetening notes were added in fairly large amounts (amber, heliotrope, tonka, etc.), so that it doesn't smell different enough to merit the purchase, even at that price. You find yourself reaching for something similar but more "natural" smelling instead. Been there, done that !

When I saw the bottle, I thought to myself, "why isn't there a frag called 'Rubic's Cube, The Fragrance.'" LOL.

Love the bottle. Great price for a decorative show bottle, too. An empty clear glass half-bottle for visual potpourri costs more at P-Barn, for crying out loud - and isn't half as interesting..... FILLED. I just need one report of basic wearability!

Today I tried a sample of "True Force". Its scent immediately recalled my memory of Estée Lauder's "Beyond Paradise for men" to mind. Though would like to try these two side by side to find out if they are really alike (am a newbie at this!).

The "True Force" sample was on a little towelette, and applied it to the inside of my wrist. It lasted from 10AM to about 3 PM--I can still smell it a little if I put my nose to my wrist (10PM). It is also on sale now at Avon.

Actually it's much closer to another Lauder product: Intuition for Men. A bit lighter though, and slightly aquatic.

It's not a bad fragrance at all, especially at this price point, but you can disregard the name, the advertising and the grenade-textured bottle. It's basically a woody oriental, and decidedly unisex. There's nothing at all that's particularly masculine or outdoorsy about it.

I found it quite common, an acquatic with some woody base notes. Nothing original.

It's actually pretty good for what it is. You can do a lot worse for $12.
