Default Can application feminize a masculine fragrance?

I've had this happen with two different frags...Burberry Touch and Kenzo Pour Homme. On two separate occasions...over a year apart I've sprayed these on the inside of my elbows/forearm area (supposedly the new wrist ). Both times, my best commented, "You smell like a girl". What's going on here??? Under my shirt these are clearly masculine frags.

People perceive scents differently. To someone else (or several someone elses), a masculine fragrance may smell feminine. And vice-versa. (Personally I loathe the assignments of gender to scent. While saying something smells feminine or masculine can convey an idea, it can just as often be meaningless.)

It's also possible that those scents and your body chemistry interact in such a way that it highlights the more floral (which some might think of as feminine) notes. Or maybe it interacts with your clothing if you use scented fabric softener or scented detergent.

Or, they could just be jealous that you're wearing nice stuff and don't know how better to say it.

For me, the scent has always been perceived by others the same no matter where applied.

i think its more the subjective perception really. it might smell feminine to someone depending on the stage of the drydown, how strongly it smelled, how weakly, and simply how it smells to them

    No.

Perception is all in the mind of the wearer and the smeller.

Habit Rouge smells like a men's scent to some and other's think it is girly.

Not many fragrance from the 90's onwards are 'clearly masculine'. Kenzo certainly is not.

Blah. Tell them their nose is defective and read my signature.
If fragrance has a gender, so does all art.

Le Troisième Homme turns into La Première Dame on my forearms but if I'm honest, it is pretty...well, pretty anyway.

Luca Turin says it is a "pretty" men's scent...almost too pretty. Who cares, anyway? Wear what you enjoy...
